The day is cold in Alexandria, but inside the warehouse is warm and inviting. The scent of cinnamon rolls and tanned leather on the air, not tanning leather but instead the finished product oiled and earthy. The meeting spot is a warehouse in the Docks area just on the border of the Lower Trade of Alexandria. The inside further welcomed by silks hung from above and a fire to warm the people inside - this is not a place where money is saved by cutting corners.

Within the establishment people move about, working on sorting, cataloging, and packaging the goods to be transported into the city to one trade deal or another. The establishment of an intermediary instead of the merchant who will generally sell the goods. Bustling through the shop is a human woman who glances to the all of you. "Good! Good! Come this way."

She ushers you on, pointing at one person and beckoning for coffee, another for the sweet rolls, and a final to bring small little pastries that are savory smell of rosemary, egg, and cranberry. "I was hoping you would show up." She nods, and then opens the door into the back office where another woman sits.

"Wha-a-a-a-at? What now Sami?!" The auburn haired lady says as she stares down at a piece of parchment and looks about ready to faceplant into it.

"It's Tami." The lady who's guiding you says a bit flatly, "And your mid-morning meeting has arrived, Kisa." The lady who ushered you this far steps back from the door letting the all of you enter the fairly small space as it people wait behind you to deliver coffee, tea, sweet rolls, and a small plate of those savory puffs.

"Already?" Kisaiya says with a sigh and she looks up to you all, "BLAAAAH! Fine, fine, fine, sit. Let's get started on this so maybe I can actually finish these agreements before next Friday." A toss of her head back in agony.

Amythyst is here and she makes sure she doesn't go near anything looking like paper, but the floors are wood...they are certainly wet now.

That is because Amythyst is soaked.

Despite being wet, she seems to be rather happy about it. However, she looks at the woman with the agreements. "You look ready to pass out....."

Orenthal comes in and has a look around, thoughtfully. He's dressed more like a merchant than an adventurer at that, but follows along as beckoned and stands expectantly with his walking staff in hand, and a curious look in his eye.

Ilmig tromps in, ready for the day and trip with a mug in hand. "Bandits on the roads, raiders in the woods, now pirates on the seas, " he mutters. "One a these days they'll learn ta do somethin proper ta fill'er bellies."

"With BOREDOM." Kisa says as she throws her hands up in the air in Amythyst's direction. They even flail a little from side to side as she stares down again at the papers and sticks her tongue out at the inanimate objects. She drops her arms back down with a whump, picking them up and then shuffling them off to the side. Kisaiya is dressed in her blue dress today, one of her usual in the rotation.

"OKAY!" She nods her head, "And you better believe it." She agrees with Ilmig. "I wish they would stop already, I've had to alter several of my agreements already and then they came to me trying to get people together. They thought I might be able to do something about it, but I'm swamped, and - frankly - I like to spread the love around with work. AND ADVENTURERS LOVE ADVENTURE!" The arms are flung up in the air again.

She snaps up one of the pastries and a cup of coffee as the hands come back down. "I'm Princess Kisaiya of Vandalheim - just Kisa though will do - and like I said. I'm here to give the venture in adventure for you fine group of adventurers."

"You'll...forgive me if I just call you Kisaiya. I'm Amythyst Rose. So....I imagine you'll tell us about the job instead of keeping us in the dark and telling us to go in a random direction. Which'll likely help no one...."

Orenthal looks impressed at Kisaiya being a Princess, and he'll execute a suitable bow. "Your majesty, what can we do for you?" he asks smoothly even as he removes and shakes off his fine cloak, setting it across a chair to dry out.

"Aye," Ilmig acknowledges. "So what be needin ventured, exactly?" Another sip from his mug as he listens.

"No-no-no." Kisaiya says with a flap of a hand at Orenthal, "It's not for /me/ me, it's for the merchants /and/ me. I'm just benefiting from it and they wanted me to try and do it, instead I'm just passing the job to you all."

Kisa sticks her tongue out at Amythyst, "I'm /getting/ there! My Gods! It's like you're in a rush or something. Are you in a rush? I can waste more time if you are." A grin and she pulls her legs up into her chair so she can sit more cross legged as she holds the cup of coffee in both hands. She blows across the top of it a few times.

"Alright, alright. So. We have the problem, you see, and it's that there's these merchants who are buying stuff from Veyshan and instead of showing up the ships are disappearing." She takes a short sip from her coffee cup. "They weren't really sure what it was but - as you all probably guessed - I think it's Pirates. Problem is, I don't have time to chase them down or figure this nonsense out." She gestures toward the stack of papers she just moved off to the side.

"That's where you all come in." A nod of her head, "SHERRI!"

A moment later, the woman who brought you here shows back up, asking with a sigh, "Yes?"

"I like the coffee." Kisa says, grinning, "And bring me the thing with the lines and the places?"

"The map?"

"Well, I mean, technically I guess it is."

"It's a map."

"Shut up! Just bring it!" Kisa looks back to the three of you here, "So anyway, I marked out where we last saw them and they all seemed to favor routes to the east instead of west. I also noticed that a few of the things showed back up on the docks. So I figured between those two things you might be able to work out where to go from there and stop them, yeah?" She exhales across the coffee again and takes another sip.

"huh. That's fortunate. Water is my element." Amythyst says quietly. "I imagine it probably is pirates, but I'll also check to see if they sunk too. Though I imagine the supplies aren't really all that serviceable, if they need to be dry."

Orenthal says to Kisaiya, "We can certainly mimic a piece of valuable cargo and draw in whatever forces are plotting against you. I've a passing familiarity with the more common trade routes, myself."

"If'n there's another ship leavin, we just hitch up 'n ride, aye?" Ilmig asks. "Ain' one much few swimmin all the way ta the Isles."

Kisa frowns, looking between the tree of you as the map arrives and is layed out on your side of the table. It's a very small map and crude, but shows the rough tradelines running from Veyshan to Alexandria. A couple of them have been marked with a large circle over several of them.

"Ignore the circle, that was my coffee cup." She takes another sip from her coffee up, "Alright, so the red lines are the ones I was talking about. If you all wanna try to just sail back and forth-" she shrugs - "-be my guest. But I think it might be best to figure out the ship you're looking for, and then figure out where it calls home. It'd be easier. To that end, like I said, some of the goods did show up here. Or maybe check in Veyshan and see if there's someone passing the information over there."

Kisaiya shifts to the side in her seat as she watches you three, "But I'll leave it to you. I put a list of the ships headed to Veyshan on the back, and I imagine all of them would be glad to take you so long as ya helped out for the ride over." She sips her coffee again.

Amythyst says, "I'll help. The Golden Coast is my home, so I'll help with the ship. Shoot. Might be one I know." She then chuckles and looks at the ships on the map."

Amythyst tilts her head. "huh. One of them is my home town. Lets start there. Get a bit more help from there too..."

Orenthal eyes the map and agrees, "Those are the more commonly used trade routes. Is there any chance if we picked a ship to ride, you could arrange for word to be spread that you're transporting some special cargo on that ship? Of the sort that's being taken? That might bait them in."

Kisa frowns at Orenthal, reaching up to scratch her chin with a hand before wrapping it about the mug once more. "I mean, I could." She nods her head a few times with a smile starting to grow. She dips her shoulder off to the other side, making a sort of C-shape with her movements. "Sure." She takes a sip of her coffee again, the green-hazel eyes flicking between them all.

"The only thing is though-" Kisa dips her shoulder and sits more in a C-shape with the cup of coffee held close, "-I don't know who's organization the information is leaking from. It would be suspicious to just tell /everyone/. And I can't exactly try to ferret them out without causing more loss." She nods her head.

Amythyst says, "It's not like a big catch when you're fishing...this is something you want to keep secret, so telling everyone your big secret is really suspicious....""

"That's what I'm saying!" Kisa says with a flail of one arm, then reaching out to get another one of the savory puffs of egg, rosemary and cranberry. "But if I don't know who to tell about the shipment, then I'm just having to tell everyone. Otherwise we could have you sailing up and back again quite a few times before the ship gets attacked." She sips her coffee.

"What I mean is, it's a good plan, but we need to know who to tell. So, sure, if you can figure out where the information is leaking from, or maybe someone in town who's selling the goods would know who to tell, or you can try heading over to Veyshan and asking over there."

Orenthal ahhhs as Kisa explains why we can't bait whoever's doing this. "In that case, if you can identify likely candidates that might be taken, based on the list of things that have been lost, we can try and shadow those shipments?" He shrugs weakly. "Or if you've got a list, we can work it out ourselves."

Amythyst taps Orenthal on the shoulder. "How about we head to this town, on the map." She points to a certain town. "....and rule it out. One, it's my hometown. SO we'd have an easier time ruling it out, OR, if they're stationed there....finding information ON these bandits."

Orenthal shrugs to Amethyst and says, "You know your hometown best. They're all the same to me."

Kisaiya stares at the place where Amythyst points, "OH! I LOVE THAT PLACE! Hey, hey, hey- Sec!" She clears her throat, "REMI!!"

The woman who escorted you into this room comes in again, "Tami."

"No I'm Kisa."

Tami stares at Kisa, saying in a flat tone, "What?"

"Gimme those Veyshan contacts! I bet they could use those. Maybe ask them about fences or some such." She nods her head a few times, "Or I dunno, maybe just about ne'er-do-wells." She smiles and Tami heads off to do just that while Kisa looks to you three again. "Is that what you three wanna do?"

Amythyst says, "Well, let's get on it and head home. I'm sure my aunt could help out...>"

Orenthal nods, and says to Amythyst, "Lead on, and I will follow."

After a few minutes, there's a return of Tami and she has a list of contacts on a piece of parchment. Cinnamon rolls are wrapped up and coffee topped off before you're all ushered off and out into the streets of Alexandria. It's time to put your plan into action!

A bit of looking at the back of the map has the list of transports, and one is secured with ease to take you off to the Veyshan town on the other side of the sea. Orenthal finds work as a purser aboard, Amythyst is working the lines, and Ilmig? Ilmig scowls at passing boats and tries not to throw up too much over the railing.

The port on the golden coast is quite large, but it's obviously a fishing community. Not only are there fishing boats off the harbor, but there are fishing boats moored at the various marinas. While there is housing near or at the marinas, the markets are on the other side of the housing developments. Just about everyone has a trade there.

The port town, from the sea almost looks ramshackled in apeparance, but one would have to know construction to know the deeper meaning behind it.....Sturdy. Whoever built this town had a LONG term plan in mind. The buildings are not only reinforced, but the houses seem to be.....rounded instead of on angles. It seems they were built with hurricanes and tsunamis in mind. If there was a port that could be described as 'a cockroach'....this would be it.

Orenthal pursers away diligently, just so he doesn't blow the group's cover while remaining alert. It at least keeps him from getting bored.

From the bit that you know about the goods being taken from this port, it's the last stop before they head out and across the sea to Alexandria. They stop here to resupply and pick up a variety of fish that are loved for their light and flaky flesh called Rouge Snapper. A good bit of money is paid in Alexandria for the fish - live - to be delivered. Of course the people that are here enjoy it as a near every day thing without thinking too much of it.

The smell of salt and fish, the stink of civilization is not as strong here as it is in other towns, and the sounds of people moving. Already the people are unloading the ship and thanks to Orenthal's work ahead of time they'll make a decent profit! Slaps on the back and a round of ale is already offered for the three of them thanks to that.

You find yourselves now within this city, the list of contacts for the merchants on this side of the sea, and Amy's family of course. Where to?

Orenthal starts in on the list with Amy asking her family for a bit of insight. Truthfully, they didn't even need their help as Orenthal knew just how to ask. The right little wink-wink word here and the nudge-nudge gesture there, and it's clear that the Merchants know who Orenthal is asking about without them being implicated in the questions. The perfect mix of direct and round-about.

Jackson Coppers

Thanks to Amy's extra little nudging on the side, they came up with - not only where his shop is - but his house too. He lives down a side street near the docks, a narrow alleyway. He tends to work out of the tavern nearby, there's a back room that you have secured a password to - Tiddly winks - and it turns out he's there now if you want to go.

TO THE TAVERN! You all show up and... OH HEY GUYS!

You all find yourselves with ale in hand. Looks like the crew all like this place too. THey laugh as they trade stories and you all are treated to slaps on the back. It's one of the more frequented places near the docks. Of course without your bit of work ahead of time, getting into the back room would've been an absolute pain in the neck. A bouncer stands in your way, but at least you have ale!

"Password?"

Orenthal says, "Yes, let's go pay a visit. No time like the present." He'll head down to the docks, and into the tavern, where he'll order an ale and head back to knock on the door. "Tiddly winks," he says when asked for the password.

Amythyst says, "Tiddly Winks." Says Amythyst as she gets to the bouncer. Seems they both know the password."

The bouncer looks to Orenthal and there's a raise of eyebrows, surprise, then to Amythyst. Both of them know it? The Dark skinned woman /and/ the rather pricey looking gentleman? Well! He narrows his eyes for a moment, looking between the two of them once more and then steps aside. He points with two fingers toward his eyes, then swivels the hand about to be pointed toward the two of you.

Yes, he's got his eyes on you two. He doesn't like the look of ya!

The hallway is dark and narrow. As you both come to a stop at the door you hear loud voices on the other side.

Amythyst sticks her tongue out at the bouncer. Yeah, she's silly like that...but she struts her way in. If he's going to keep an eye on her....may as well give him a little show. Which means he's....distracted.

Orenthal has his drink, and is surprised that it's paid for. Apparently he made a few friends among the crew. He doesn't let the bouncer intimidate them. He -does- pause to whisper to Amythyst, "Sounds like 4 people inside." He'll pause long enough to maybe get an idea of the discussion before proceeding in.

"C'mon Jackson." Person 1 says, "You know how this works. You wanna do business here, you gotta pay for the right."

"Hey now, look, I already gotta pay the tavern, the guard, the docks, buy drinks.... I'm not made of money!" Says Person 2

Person 3 "Hey, you listen or we'll make sure you have an accident."

"That means we break your legs." Person 4.

"Shut it." Person 1 says again, "You two, just make sure we aren't interrupted. I'll handle Jackson here."

Person 3 and 4 in near unison, "Sure thing Boss. We gotcha."

Orenthal says very qietly to Amythyst, "This certanly -sounds- like the right place. But I'm not sure this is the best time to interrupt them. Shall we linger a bit?"

Amythyst looks to Orenthal. "We're likely to get run into if we linger. Either way, we probably need to help Jackson....."

Orenthal thinks about what Amythyst says and nods. "If we save Jackson a beating, he'll be more inclined to help us," he says, and walks into the beatdown.

Amythyst takes a breath. "I don't think...." Then Orenthal walks forward. "....it's going to be a beatdown..." She then sighs.

The door swings open just at the two are making their way to the front of the room. "Hey boss." One says, a half oruch responding, "What? Gods, did you get lost?"

"No, Boss, we got company."

"What?" The half oruch turns to see the two adventurers as they walk into the door. "Who the hells are you?"

Jackson pipes up, "Oh thank Gods! You're here. I knew I could count on my bodyguards!"

"What?" The Half oruch says, looking back to Jackson, then back to the adventurers.

Amythyst says, "Must be the muscle." She says before looking to the Half-oruch. "I would prefer it if you walked away. We just want to talk to Jackson ourselves." She then looks to the other two. "and I would prefer to be nice......""

Orenthal had not expected Jackson to alibi them, but he will play along. He nods to Amythyst, who, it seems, was right about this not being a fight, and he says to Jackson, "Right here for you boss. What shall we do?"

"WHAT?!" The Half-oruch looks at Orenthal as he talks about Jackson - the man next to him - being the boss and he laughs. Then he sneers as he pulls out his greatsword, the shink of metal slithering on leather. "Ohhh aren't you just hte prettiest lil' thing. I'm going to enjoy hurting you." His grip tightens on the wrap about the sword's handle.

Apparently that Half-oruch has been eating his spinach and practicing on the pell every day as he looks to Orenthal and chuckles in his dark, deep tone. Another tensing of his hands on the grip and he brings that sword in a nasty overhead swing.

One of the ones attacking Amy stands there, clutching his head after dropping his sword. Quite dazed, the other advances for another biting cut.

"At least it aint you. So /shut it/. Now- get out of here, don't let me catch you..." He turns and Jackson has bailed indeed right out a back door. "OH YOU GOTTA BE KIDDIN' ME!" He turns and starts running toward the back wall before barreling out the back.

Orenthal finds that their enemies and their erstwhile contact have all fled. He'll slide back into the room, trying not to bleed too much, and ask Amythyst, "WHat now? Do we follow them?"

Amythyst says, "Now....we go and get healed...then we head to Jackson's place.....and hide out. I don't think he'll mind too much since we kinda helped him out of a jam..."

Orenthal nods about getting healed. "Do you think Jackson'll make it back to Jackson's place?" he wonders.

And while you two are fighting, apparently Ilmig was off drinking. I mean, that wasn't his goal, but the sailors were quite keen on buying him ale and giving him quite the ribbing on puking his guts out on the way over. Though there was more than a little encouragement about sea travel and the like, that's about when he stumbles into the back room, ale still in hand and finds a very useful stack of paers.

Orenthal was paying more attention to stopping up his wounds and wasn't giving the search the attention it deserved.

Amythyst takes a deep breath. "At least we got something we came here for." She says as Ilmig comes in with the papers. "Jackson owes us too."

Kazahd don't puke! Their stomachs are made of adamantine! It was all that sloshing on the ship! Even a solid mug will spill out some if you tip it far enough! That's what he had to refill at the bar, to keep the blood-alcohol level at the right ratio.

Orenthal peers at the papers. "What did we find out anyhow?" he asks, looking over to the papers.

Orenthal mutters, "Good grief, they're certainly better at fighting than at bookkeeping." He sighs, and points out, "With these sailing times, this ship might be sailing out of Hextus, in Charn. It makes regular stops here, too. We might want to check them out next time they make port."

Amythyst says, "Well....here we are." She then flips the papers. "The ship we're looking for is the Oft Sea." She then makes a face. "maybe we should've let Jackon get his ass beat.....""

Ilmig favors solid ground. The Mountain, afterall. He looks to the others reading over the sea papers. His beard twitches as he makes a dour face. Even for a mornir. "We be sailin on more ships?"

You're now faced with a question how how to handle this. You can wait here, Orenthal knows about how long it'll be before they're back, or you can head out after them or try your luck at Hextus - the place that's most likely to be their base.

Indeed... Ilmig called it. Sailin', sailin', over the bounding main....

Orenthal agrees with Amythyst about letting Jackson get beaten. "Let's get out of here, anyhow, and look these over someplace a little less dangerous than badguy headquarters." He shakes his head to Ilmig, though he says, "They won't be back here for like a month, though. We'd have to meet them in Charn."

Amythyst says, "or be on the ship they raid..."

Orenthal grumbles to Amythyst, "That was my plan back in Alexandria."

Amythyst says, "yeah, but did you know which ship they were going to raid?"

Orenthal says, "We don't know now. Only what ship they're sailing."

Ilmig strokes his beard in thought. "If'n they not be sailing again fer a month, we could catch 'em in port 'fore they do." He means walking, of course. Plenty of time. No waves.

Orenthal says to Ilmig, "Well, we /could/ sneak aboard in CHarn, while most of the crew are out roistering on shore, and grab the ship ourselves...."

Based on what you three figured out with the paperwork, this Pirate ship does its pirating ways and then sells the goods it stole along with other cargo runs. It's hard to say the exact ports it stops in at besides here and the one that Orenthal identified in Hextus.

Orenthal points out the accounting line for food. "Look at this, they lay on more food for the rum home. Either coming back with passengers or slaves..."
