Small Vehicle Spend

From Tenebrae
Jump to navigation Jump to search

From a small cart to a personal boat, personal vehicles are yours to own on Tenebrae. Unlike a larger shop, these have no monthly upkeep. They're also more limited: they tend to be dedicated, and built, towards a purpose you decide. Examples might be a traveling merchant's stall, or a fortuneteller's wagon.

Purchase of a vehicle grants you an object you may carry with you and drop any reasonable place ongrid. These vehicles are not intended to be enterable spaces. That is, boats tend to be open, and carts are most often adjustable so that they double as an unfolding merchant's stall.

A vehicle may reasonably travel with you wherever you go (and it is able to go). Carts, as part of the environment, are naturally exposed to the same risks as everything else. That is, if yours is a merchant cart and the price of supplies goes up, this challenges you, too. If it goes on a DM'd scene, however, it's in danger just as you are, and so forth.

A vehicle is the type of spend that's expected to take a little time and roleplay. That is, it's not something that turns into a finished product overnight.

Personal Vehicle (Tier One) Maybe you'd always wanted that beer cart. Maybe you'd always wanted to open Sandy's Traveling Soup Kitchen for Orphans. Or, Sandy's Personal Leafboat. Regardless, you procure, build, or purchase one of the two:
  • A small boat
  • A small cart; this comes with one or two servicable mules

This boat or cart is built towards a singular purpose. That is, these tend to be more a merchant-cart, or even a portable artificer's lab. In game terms, pick a single room from Build a Public Space to designate as the purpose of your cart or vehicle.

20 RPP, Level 3+
Tier Two You've spent a bit of time and effort on improving your vehicle. Choose one of the following. You may always purchase the other for 10 RPP.
Cart Upgrade: If your cart or boat is capable of an upgrade, you may do this at this time.
Exotic Draw: For half the normal price, you may purchase up to two exotic creatures to haul your cart (the creature must be normally purchasable and approved by staff). The creatures arrive, trained to work and haul.

Reward Benefit Cost
Repurpose a Vehicle Change a vehicle's type and function. Takes 5 days, during which the vehicle confers no benefits. 5 RPP
Convert a Cart into a Shop This takes 5 days, during which no benefit is gained from either. At the end, you possess a Lease, and a single shop room ongrid. If you'd purchased Coats of Paint, these also apply. At the end of the 5 days, your shop opens and you begin paying maintenance, and may add additional rooms and benefits, as well as a manager. If you'd purchased an advanced working animal, this is refunded to you at the sale price. A Face About Town, Level 5+, 10 RPP
Purchase an Existing Cart Sometimes PCs leave, or want to try something different. This doesn't mean that their vehicles do, or can't be refitted. In fact, this is almost always cheaper than purchasing new. 1/2 of cart's RPP value
