You paged (Alba, Miruan, Aldean, Latenat) with 'RP1 when ready :)'
Aldean has arrived.
Latenat has arrived.
Miruan has arrived.
<OOC> Miruan waves. :D
Silmeria has arrived.
<OOC> Rakim waves "Hey all, thank you for this. I have no idea what it will count for as regards to bonuses but hopefully will be some fun :)"
<OOC> Rakim says, "Any questions or anything before I post a scene set?"
<OOC> Silmeria simply warns, will be slow for the next indeterminate while; company.
<OOC> Rakim says, "NP, we are starting earlier than planned"
You paged Latenat with 'Okay the info you got was the timing of the handover of Rakim's Master. Neither side are that trusting of one another so their won't be too many guards/escorts. It is at a warehouse which looks run down from the outside but is actually quite secure. If that works?'
<OOC> Latenat has got a thing at 1 for a half hour, so thankfully we are.
<OOC> Aldean nods. I also appreciate the early start.
<OOC> Aldean says, "I'm good."
And so the word has come by varying ways that Rakim's master has been found, and to meet at a rather dubious looking address at the dock area of Alexandria. Inside is surprisingly tidy however, although rather spartan. For his part Rakim is dressed in clothes to blend in better with the darkness, muted colours and rather less lace. There are seats enough for everyone around a table which has some parchment set upon it showing a rough diagram of a warehouse.
Miruan is both happy and worried. Rakim has become like a big brother, and she knows his Master is important to him. While the monk is fairly inexperienced by comparison, she seems quietly determined to help and will turn up. She looks to Rakim, in her usual, plain robes.
As ever when he isnt actively doing more colorful explorers guild contractual activities Latenat is smoking, deferring the use of a chair in order to slump up against an wall. The half-sil scoundrel is dressed in his shabby accoutrements, the dirty browns and greys will serve well in the dusk environment no matter what happens.
Aldean's choice of "unobtrusive" is rather ... interesting. He's eschewed the usual shirt, jerkin and trousers in favor of a seedy-looking outfit indeed. Barefoot, ragged, smelling of tar and sweat and cheap liquor, he's wearing a sash, shirt and trousers in neutral tones that would not look amiss on a sailor or dockhand down on his luck. Blonde hair is entirely covered by a blue and white striped cap that hangs down over his back. A bottle of something truly rank-smelling swings absently from one callused hand as he sways his way a little into the room.
"Thank you very much everyone. Master Fiadalis is the closest thing to an actual father I have had, and should he be handed over to the al'Sarah clan. Well..." Rakim trails off there and pauses in silence for some moments "...and speaking of that. It may or may not come as a surprise but there is a reason I know so much of that particular crime family. You see my full name is Rakim ibn-Farouk...al'Sharah" he pauses here to lift his eyes and glance around the room, guaging people's reactions before taking a deep breath to continue "Needless to say being related to a notorious family of tomb-robbers, slavers and smugglers of magical antiquities is not something widely known amongst the Temple of Eluna" he adds with a ghost of his usual sardonic smile "To cut a long story short, I met my master after my family took him hostage, and well during the escape my oldest brother, and my father's beloved heir may have somehow got a few crossbow bolts in his chest. So they bear a rather large grudge against myself and my master"
Miruan is quiet. She listens, looking to Rakim with dark blue eyes. She kind of blinks, and her eyes widen. She does look to the other two, recognizing Aldean at least. Latenat gets a curious look but for her part, she stays quiet a moment. "..." Headtilt. Hmmm. "Well. Family isn't destiny," She notes. Or else free will would count for diddly and squat. "I don't know what to say, but I am most glad to assist in getting him back."
Latenat just looked at you.
Not until the door closes behind him does the apparent drunken sailor set the booze bottle aside and pull off the cap to reveal a normally-attired Aldean, holding a hat in one that is a floppy blue velvet affair with intricate gold stitching of arcane symbols around its brim. He flashes an easy grin at the group and drops backwards into a chair, looping forearms over the chair's back and straddling the seat. "Aye?" One eyebrow raises at the revelation, but drops again, and he shrugs. "I ain't know naught of you bein' anyone's son, mate." An outrageous wink. "An' sounds like ye got a damned fine reason to get out anyroad. Go on."
The Docks might be a poor side of the city, but for Silmeria that simply means she spends more time here than most other spots in Alexandria. Owing to the nature of today's task, however, she does attempt to go incognito, in simple, dirt-stained, worn clothes that were acquired far too readily to have been gone out and gotten. Hearing Rakim's explanation, the Inquisitor nods solemnly. "...Then I hope you don't take it amiss," she says, slipping her pistol out from beneath a jacket, "that I'll take the defense of you and your master quite personally."
Raising his eyebrows at Rakim's getting to the point so abruptly Latenat purses his lips somewhat.... not in dissaproval mind, but a purposeful concentration as he digests the additional information. And it really shows how driven and under pressure the Tsuran is when it comes to tonights activities. He spares a glance and a quick smile (abiet still pursed) for the others that have heeded the call for assistance, a nonverbal hand in the air by way of greeting at Aldean and Silmeria... his grey eyes drawing slowly back to Rakim over Miruan having caught her most curious look.
"I would do introductions but in case people do want things kept a little quiet..." Rakim trails off then as no-one reacts negatively to his revelation he relaxes a little bit and offers a softer smile than usual "...thank you all. Now you mentioned a meet and a warehouse?" he says to Latenant as he becomes a little more brisk and professional.
Miruan pauses. "Well, you can call me Mir for now then," She offers to those who do not know her. Still, Miruan seems just as dedicated as the others. She is fairly quiet, curious and alert. She nods at the words of the others. Listen first, speak second. That's what she learned shortly before she got spinkicked for asking if that made her slow.
"I did." The half-sil voice is a high baritone, pleasant to listen to and weilded with ease as the scoundrel shifts so that he is facing the group in general,"The hand over is to occur an hour before midnight down near the eastern end of the warehouse district... both parties don't trust each other. I have a watch outside but I dont know how conditions have changed since I was there last, but you can guess they might be bringing some backup to a meet where there is little love to be had."
"A lot o' thieves an' slavers, dealin' with followers of a dark goddess. Ain't thinkin' they'll be best o' friends," Aldean puts in with a smirk, leaning forward. He glances up at Silmeria, flashes her one of his winning grins, then leans back on the back of the chair he'd commandeered. "Think ye they might turn on each otther, do ye give 'em a reason?"
<OOC> Silmeria says, "...God damnit I shouldn't have posed in. x.x I'm being dragged out for dinner, sorry."
<OOC> Silmeria says, "Homeboy runs on Edmonton time."
<OOC> Aldean says, "It's okay. *hugs* Enjoy!"
<OOC> Miruan eeps and hugs! Have a good evening.
<OOC> Rakim says, "Take care"
You paged Aldean with 'If it is a good plan :) Main thing is rescue his master'
<OOC> Silmeria was looking forward to this. :( May I remain to watch and hopefully jump in if I'm not out too late?
<OOC> Rakim says, "Of course :)"
<OOC> Aldean says, "Quite honestly, I think it's rude of him to descend on you without warning, disrupt your plans and drag you out, whether those plans are RL or online. I won't tell you what to do, but I think you're within your rights to tell him you don't want to be out all night."
"I cannot truly blame them for not entirely trusting one another. I wouldn't either..." Rakim quips in a faint shadow of his usual sardonic humour. He drums his fingers on the table thoughtfully as he considers the problem "...as much as I would like to hand them over to the appropriate authorities the rescuing of my master must take precedence. And in the absence of Kira I would presume that no-one here has too many issues with, shall we say, enacting rather swift justice. As to be blunt everyone on both sides probably has committed more than sufficient crimes to warrant execution..." he trails off to consider Aldean's question for a few moments "It's possible. I do believe that the leadership want this alliance, but they are rather distrustful at the best of times. If we can disrupt this alliance and rescue Master Fiadalis all the better"
"I suspect there is a lot of paranoia," Miruan agrees. She is learning a good deal here. But she tilts her head. "I am terrible at lying, so if there's any talking to be done..." It's best she not do it. Trickery is not her strong bag. She takes a deep breath. "Rescuing your master is my priority. As long as things are not unreasonably brutal, it is probably best not to let them run around and cause trouble anyway." She shrugs faintly. She looks between them, curious.
"Na, lass. There won't be no sweet-talkin' here." Aldean's grin largely fades. "Be thinkin' to find yer master, figure out who be holdin' 'im, then start a fight an' make off with 'im in all the noise. Be quick an' quiet. They ain't gonna draw guards, not here, not less they set sommat afire, but do ye move quick and quiet, we can be gone afore any notice."
"Mir." Latenat inclines his head in deferance to the new face and her declaration of commitment,"And agreed Aldean, as much as I'd like to go with simple is best, there are too much unknowns to take a soft touch." the half-sils belt has a selection of weapons hanging from it, the least being the sap he indicated with a gesture,"Quiet I can do, although I'm not exactly a sneak-thief."
Rakim reaches up to stroke his sharp goatee as he considers Aldean's suggestion, his face softening in thought "Hmm, it has possibilities..." he says at last, then a faintly wicked smile crosses his face as his eyes light up "...if an al'Sarah were to say kill one of the Taaranites. Of course I wonder where we might find someone from that family" the drawls drily as one finely arched eyebrow arises, an amused wickedness tingeing his gaze.
You paged Aldean with 'Thanks for that suggestion, less combat but more fun I think ;)'
You paged Aldean with 'Well it was going to be RP'd, but yeah :)'
"Well, I meant, more sneakytalk." Trickery. She's bad at it. Miruan nods to Latenat. "I can be quiet." She's not the stealthiest but when your armor is robes and you walk smoothly, well. Sneaking isn't too hard, in that case. She pauses at Rakim's suggestion. Then her eyes widen. The second shoe drops.
Aldean pauses a moment, his own grin growing. "Aye. Might work." Suddenly, the bard snorts to himself, but says nothing, instead considering those around. "Ain't gotta kill, mate. Show 'em somethin' they ain't like. Make it look like there be sommat as ain't agreed on."
One side of Latenat's mouth quirks, observing Rakim's fanatasism,"Smoke sticks and bombs will do just as well to that end, as much as I have no love for the Tarranites wetwork has never been my preferred mothod then there are other tools available." the scoundrel proffers a subdued shrug,"I have a runner whom can run for the watch to cover our retreat, simple yet elegant and should add confusion to the mix and can augment anything we come up with."
"If anyone has a better way to start a fight between the two groups I am more than happy to listen to it. I prefer not to leave bodies behind needlessly" Rakim saysa s his eyes shift between Aldean and Latenant "My thought was to perhaps start a fight amongst the guards on the outside, that with some prompting will spread within and allow the rest of you to spirit my master out in the confusion"
Whirlpool has arrived.
Miruan shakes her head. "I am not good at starting fights between people," She admits. "But otherwise, that seems like a reasonable plan." She pauses. "I can throw things pretty well?" She really has no idea.
<OOC> Aldean waves.
<OOC> Miruan shakes her allergies. I might get some tea. And hi Whirl!
Latenat nods in confident affirmation,"To that end I could disguise myself as one of the parties and start a scuffle." white teeth are flashed, there and gone again as soon as they appeared,"That work for everybody?" the scoundrel cocks his head at the grop for a yay or nay.
"Dunno, mate. Think a good illusion might set 'em off? They be yer folk." Aldean's backwards seat across the chair is casual. "We ain't got time to jaw, though. I say we see what they be doin', first." He pauses, and nods to Latenat. "Mayhaps, mate. Rakim'll know best what'll rile 'em."
<OOC> Whirlpool pops in to observe! :D
"If I may point out the obvious, I -am- an al-Sarah. As much as I might not wish it. I also have some small skill in deception, and I know both sides rather more than I wish too" Rakim points out with a faint smile to Latenat. As Aldean speaks he nods to the more experienced man "I will cause some trouble at the front, if you three can sneak in and snatch Master Fiadalis?"
Miruan looks sympathetic. "Sure, we can do that," She nods at Rakim. And he'll always be a Rakim McFancyHat to her. Or at least, a friendly, wise friend figure. Nevertheless, she is about as deceptive as a platypus trying to sell high heels.
You paged Whirlpool with 'Heh Aldean came up with a more amusing plan than what I had in mind, so running with that :)'
"Well." Latenat levers himself off the wall and stretches languidly, limbering himself up for the nights dangerous doings even if it is a few hours away,"Thats settled then. We mark out a service entrance of the warehouse whilst Rakim hits up the frontage."
"Aye. Leave yerself a bit o' space behind ye, mate," Aldean adds to Rakim. "Think they'll know ye on sight, an' do they know ye, they'll turn on ye?" He puts an elbow on the back, hand on his chin.
Rakim offers a nod to the group and then with a faintly teasing smile he nods to Aldean "Oh I think I have a solution to that" he drawls then reaches up to touch his hat. There is a rippling blur that moves down his form and at the end he is somewhat different. His clothing is the traditional attire of Tsuran Vast nomads. His face is far harder looking, rather fussy goatee replaced by rough stubble. He takes a deep breath and speaks "Cousins...no not right" he says voice shifting a bit "Trechery!" he tries, thickening his accent and deepening his tone "Almost...we are betrayed" he tries again then nods, seemingly satisfied "Shall we then?"
<OOC> Rakim says, "Thank you Svarshan for the hat of disguise ;)"
<OOC> Aldean says, "Did you notice that Aldean was using one when he walked in? :)"
<OOC> Rakim says, "They are nifty things :)"
<OOC> Aldean says, "They truly are."
<OOC> Miruan grins. Awesome.
<OOC> Miruan says, "His hat really IS fancy."
"Just be sure to practice your maniacal laugher," Miruan teases a little with a smile. She seems to have an immense respect for Rakim, and will stand with the others. "That is pretty good though," She nods.
<OOC> Rakim says, "Once Rakim does the distraction thing you guys can run with whatever opposition, or lack thereof, you want on your way to his master :)"
As the hat changes Rakim's form, Aldean chuckles in a low, edgy baritone. "Aye, that'll do, mate. Let's begone, then." He, too swings to his feet in an easy motion, and puts the floppy hat in his own hand back on. Instantly, he too shifts, back into the rugged, drunken sailor in the stocking cap and no shoes, and offers the group a rotting grin before rescuing the nasty-smelling booze from the corner.
Whirlpool has left.
<OOC> Aldean says, "Ha. He ran off already. XD"
<OOC> Rakim says, "Whirlpool is cool but I get nervous when staff check in on things :P"
<OOC> Latenat does too. So, scenechange?
<OOC> Aldean nods. He never does more than kibitz. He's super-cool about it; he's likely bored.
Rakim holds up a hand in polite refusal of the rotgut "Even for my master there are limits" he quips although his gaze is far more serious. He smiles faint and takes a moment and a few deep breathes to centre himself then with a nod to the others starts off into the fragrant dockyard evening.
<OOC> Rakim says, "Okay I will do a scene set and then Rakim will start things off if that is cool?"
<OOC> Latenat says, "indeed"
<OOC> Aldean says, "Works. :)"
<OOC> Miruan is groovy with that. I went to put the tea on.
At an initial glance the warehouse looks rather run-down and a strong wind away from falling down. The more observant or criminally minded may notice it is far more secure than it appears. Also it is guarded, two pairs at a frontward entrance, one group dressed like locals, the other more like Rakim's altered attire. There is a back entrance of course, guarded by two people, again one of each. It really looks like they do not trust one another, keeping their distance and paying more attention to each other than actually guarding.
<OOC> Aldean says, "Different topic. Svarshan's asking me if we can shift the date for the needle party tomorrow -- Sil can't make it, and Miruan, he says if you want in we can accommodate."
<OOC> Aldean says, "When's a good date for you guys."
<OOC> Miruan ohs, I have um, Typhoon's thingy tomorrow but I appreciate the invite tons. :D
<OOC> Rakim says, "Any day where there is not a plot on, and not Saturday :)"
<OOC> Aldean says, "It's not going to be tomorrow."
<OOC> Aldean says, "Sil can't make that and I have an alt in Ty's thing too. (I'm also JEssamy.)"
<OOC> Miruan says, "Oh! Or Friday? Well, if I'm not too low level. I'm closing in on level 4. :D"
<OOC> Aldean says, "Naw, this is an RP scene."
<OOC> Miruan ohs!
<OOC> Aldean says, "Basic premise: the girls are dressing as noblewomen and the guys are dressing as guards and we're using that as a guise to get in to see the Queen."
Rakim gives some time for his companions to get into position, then taking in a deep breath he strides out boldly towards the two pairs at the front "Cousins!" he says in a thick Tsuran accent "We are betrayed! they lured us here for the guard!" he says in a commanding voice.
The other Tsurans look a little confused but Rakim looks like one of the Clan-Chiefs sons so they reach for their weapons. For their part the local Taaran folk start to protest, and with everyone's eyes off him Rakim tosses a smoke bomb into the mix, the billowing clouds adding to the confusion as with a smile he tosses a dagger at one of the shapes within, a noise of pain mioxing with the sounds of weapons being drawn.
<OOC> Aldean says, "Are there guards at the back door as well?"
<OOC> Rakim says, "Ayup, one of each."
<OOC> Rakim says, "You guys can decide on the opposition and such, with the one proviso that one of his older brothers will stay by Fiadalis."
<OOC> Rakim says, "Or I can if you prefer"
<OOC> Aldean says, "I don't mind."
Miruan is with the sneaksy party. Fortunately, once she removes her nicer robes and wears a long, dark shirt that might remind some of a common thief or thug. Or the muscle to a more agile foe. She will make her way around the back quietly, doing her best to look like she belongs. Just another thuggish minion, really. Her hair was deliberately left down and rough, giving her a really brawlerlike appearance. She peers. One, two...
<OOC> Miruan is fine with either.
Criminally minded? You've come to the right place! Latenat has no problem seeing in the poorly lit alleyways between the hulking warehouses, looking utterly at home positioning himself before the abuscade is to take place. By which it means... easy ingress to a service entrance. The scoundrel attempts to reassure his compatriots with a few simple hand signals and smiles but one can tell he carries a bit of tension by the set of his shoulders... and then the yells begin to break out and the sound of a smoke bomb goes off.
The half-sil hestitates for a half-heartbeat and then moves forward, center of balance low as he slinks forward in an even loping pace that strikes the balance 'twixt stealth and ground eating .
Sometime in the journey, probably in the shadows, Aldean's changed guises with the help of the hat, and has adopted the dark skin of the Cerenzans to go with dark-colored clothing. From some dockside haunt he's grabbed a rough length of rope and slung it over a shoulder, and as the others move forward, he moves to follow, covering the others' strides. Clearly, he means to bat cleanup here, covering any who escape.
<OOC> Rakim will pose the two guards and then brother when time comes.
Rakim lifts his voice to carry to those within "TREACHEY!" he yells in a rather more local-sounding accent "Those damn vast bandits attacked us" he adds as the front door is opened to a confusion of smoke and fighting men. Rakim tosses another dagger towards the doorway, not really worried about hitting someone but it does add to the chaos and confusion that seems to be spreading inside.
At the back of the place some of the sounds have spread and the two guards back away from each other, hands going to their weapons as they stop paying any attention to their surroundings.
You paged Aldean with 'Fair enough but if you want to there may well be higher level folks within :)'
Miruan is as criminal as forgetting to ask for a cookie. But she is not a judge, and so she follows the others. She believes in Latenat's reassurance, but it's hard not to be a little tense, too. She has a lot of rope with her. Which is odd, but it really seems to be her thing. Rope, rope, rope. She moves easily, quietly, her feet falling as lightly as leaves on a freshly groomed lawn. Wait. Patience. Maybe they will just leave.
<OOC> Miruan grins. I think she digs it. She's incredibly chatty.
<OOC> Rakim says, "Lat and Ald?"
<OOC> Aldean says, "Working."
That's their signal. Aldean shoots a meaningful glance at Latenat, then whistles a sibilant melody to the hank of rope he's thrown over his shoulder. It's an odd sound -- as if there's mor ethan one voice for a moment -- but the rope on his shoulder takes on a life of its own, raising one end and standing to attention as if listening for orders. A curious spell, but its use is clear as he throws the length with all his strength at one of the suspicious guards. "Coil an' knot!" he snarls to the rope in a gravelly voice.
GAME: Aldean casts Animate Rope. Caster Level: 13 DC: 17
So close to midnight the worn cobblestones are damp in a greasy manner as the party closes in on the pair guarding the side entrance. For all of their vigilance they are reacting instead of acting, and are thus are already on the back foot. This is taken advantage of by the rogue as he leaps up high and drives the length of wood he has in his hand into the temple of the other as they both reach for their weapons.
The bound guard manages to yell "HELP!" which really only adds to the spreading violent confusion. His companion takes something of a nap as Latenat smacks him in the temple and sends him off to dream. A moment later the door bursts open and a man in traditional Tsuran dress emerges with a long curved blade in hand, dark eyes darting around.
You paged Latenat with 'I do too at times, seems a tad...odd :P'
Well. That's where Miruan can help at least. She is quietly waiting her turn to help, when like an angry snake in a prank beer can, she strikes. There's a quick, swift and powerful kick to the man who emerge's head. BOOT TO THE HEAD! 100% stealthy. At least he gets to join in the Naptime Club.
And what will make for more fun and confusion at the front but some fire. Rakim glides closer to the front and tosses in a vial of something, that when it hits the ground bursts forth into a sheet of flame that engulfs one of the struggling figures. The paranoia is swiftly spreading as both sides turn vicously on one another.
You paged Latenat with 'One of the reasons I selected you guys was that I can trust you all not to go silly :)'
Naptime Club sounds like an excellent idea, really. Enough for Aldean to put a swift boot in the temple of the bound man as he struggles, then make quickly for the door. The smell of fire reaches his nostrils, and he snarls something in Khazdul that doesn't sound pleasant as he makes to burst the side door open with a shoulder.
<OOC> Aldean says, "Anyone who speaks Khazdul -- he's swearing."
<OOC> Rakim does :P
This close to the water the wood is damp enough so that with an earthen floor the fire doesn't really take off, but still it serves as even more a confusing distraction, noises of blade on blade, sounds of pain and cursing sound from the front. The back door opens to a reasonably wide hallway, down which comes a small party. There are two Tsuran-dressed guards whoa re escorting a tall and nasty looking man who bears a striking resemblance to a bigger Rakim, who is leading a far smaller looking Sil, who is hooded with his hands bound before him, linked by a rope to who is presumably one of Rakim's brothers. At the sight of the others he curses and motions the guards forward whilst he starts in the opposite direction.
Naptime club! Miruan doesn't know Khadzul in the slightest. But she is going to make sure the one she punched out is nice and out, before trying him up. or her part, she looks to the others nodding and waiting for their signal to move.
<OOC> Aldean says, "Are the guards headed towards us, or away from us?"
<OOC> Miruan says, "Dad's wanting me to take the trash out, sorry."
<OOC> Aldean says, "No worries, you do that."
<OOC> Latenat says, "towards us, the big guy leading the prisoner is moving away when he spotted us"
<OOC> Rakim says, "The guards are heading towards those who entered, the boss is running away :P"
<OOC> Aldean says, "OK."
<OOC> Rakim says, "With the 'package' :)"
"Goal sighted, cover me!" Apon seeing the trio whom is leading their presumed prisoner Latenat sprints foward, the not-quite-human rogue light on his feet as he goes in low... and then leaps up and wideways, using the wal of the hallway to springboard above the intercepting guards heads as he goes after the departing large fellow.
Once inside, Aldean can see the guards moving toward them ... and Latenat moving past them. Gritting his teeth, Aldean reaches into a pouch at his waist, whistling another tune, this one a complex trill that is eerie-sounding indeed. Again, that curious effect as if two voices whistled in near-unison ... and he stabs a finger at the one guard.
GAME: Aldean casts Hold Person. Caster Level: 13 DC: 18
<OOC> Aldean says, "Rakim, I leave it to you whether that takes or not."
GAME: Rakim rolls 1d20: (15): 15
<OOC> Rakim ponders "Hmm probably doesn't with that roll, as they are not newbies"
<OOC> Aldean nods. No worries.
<OOC> Aldean says, "He can come after me if he likes."
<OOC> Aldean says, "Your choice."
<OOC> Rakim nod nods "Will wait on Mir to get back before posing their various reactions"
Miruan nods, as the Latenate springs forward (THE Latenat). She looks worried as they start to intercept guards. Well, okay. She is a newbie compared to the guards. But she HAS is a really good kick, so one of the guards is going to get a swift kick to the back of the knee, followed by one to the groin and butt. Owch.
<OOC> Miruan says, "All good, sorry. We've been renovating the house. Trash bags all up in here."
<OOC> Rakim says, "No worries :)"
The Tsuran guard pauses a moment as he feels something but he manages to shake it off, and moves forward to lunge at Aldean. These guards are tougher than the average but no man can stand up to a kick to the groin. Still he doesn't quite go down, gasping he thrusts weakly at the Elunite monk.
The boss of the group lets viciousness get in the way of good sense. Rather than using the captive as a hostage he yanks hard n the leash to force the eldery sil tot he ground then draws a hand crossbow and fires it at Latenat, his other hand going for a nasty looking dagger.
You paged Latenat with 'It is pretty much over, but if you have to go maybe lat gets knocked out or something :)'
<OOC> Rakim says, "Ack sorry I hit return before proofreading that*wince*"
<OOC> Aldean says, "Redo :)"
<OOC> Aldean says, "OR not, if it's just a proofread."
<OOC> Aldean says, "It's fine."
<OOC> Miruan oohs.
<OOC> Rakim says, "As long as it made sense to y'all"
Having dropped the sap when he was sprinting down the hallway the rogue pulls out a parrying dagger and a rapier. This avails him naught as he desperately flings himself aside into the wall to avpoid the incoming bolt,"I dont even have to beat you." the half-sil murmurks silkily,"All I have to do is slow you down long enough so you dont get away." the weapons come up in a defensive posture that is primed for a riposte as he stalks forward, recovering from the ungracefull wall ricochet.
"Damn." Suddenly, no more spellcasting. There's a guard in Aldean's face. He's barely got time to evade as a scimitar comes at him, and has just pulled a morningstar to defend himself when a second strike leaves him with a bloody line across his forearm. The snarl turns black, and he comes back with two quick strikes of his own.
Well, it was a pretty good kick. Miruan winces, as part of her shirt coat gets caught and she's got a fair scratch. Her shirt is mortally wounded and will be remembered by his family. For her part, she will take a swift snap kick at his throat then. "rude."
You paged Latenat with 'Take care :)'
You paged Latenat with 'Will do :)'
No sign of Rakim so far, aside perhaps for the contined spread of chaos. These guards seem a cut above the regular ones out front, but perhaps not quite up to the adventuers standards. The one on Miruan lashes out again even as he falls back into the wall and struggles for breath. The two strikes of Aldean hit the guard, blood mixing with his silken attire. For his part the boss snears at Latenat "It figures, my cowardly little brother cannot even fight his own battles" unable to reload his hand crossbow the powerful figure lashes the cruely hooked dagger at the half-sil.
You paged Latenat with 'Thank you for being a part of this BTW :)'
<OOC> Rakim says, "Lat has to go for RL :) as advised previously. Next pose from me will deal with that."
Not being one who dedicates all his time to fighting, Aldean's going to work for this, not that you'd know it to look at him. The man knows his business in a fight, and finally looks to put the guard down with one final, vicious blow, wearing an expression that is definitely not nice at all.
<OOC> Aldean says, "OK."
Miruan is one who dedicates her time to fighting, reading, journaling and physical training. She manages to at least move out of the second blow, though there's a shredding sound as her shirt takes one ofr the team. She takes another quick jab at him. "And you have an entire tribe to bother him!" She counters. Once her guard is down, she will look to Lat and Aldean, surveying the combat.
<OOC> Rakim says, "Is it tacky to have Rakim strike the 'final blow'? I am happy to hand it to either of you if you want?"
<OOC> Aldean says, "No. It's your story. It's absolutely fine."
<OOC> Miruan says, "No way, it's dramatic."
<OOC> Miruan is rooting for Rakim. He needs his master back and stuff.
<OOC> Aldean says, "Definitely! If need be, Aldean can get his master out of there but better that Rakim do it himself, I think."
The two guards both go down, although Miruan's is in somewhat better condition, although he is busy choking to death. Latenant almost avoids the blow, only the shallowest of cuts grazing his arm. Despite this seemingly insignificant wound the half-sil begins to pale as muscles are sappped of their strength. Triumphantly the Tsuran turns back to the bound captive and begins to stalk closer, leaving Latenat alone for now.
At this moment Rakim emerges from the smoke wafting down the corridor. He is back to his usual self, scar, lace, fancy hat and all. Not to mention his rather fancy crossbow "Fancy meeting you here brother dearest" he drawls in his most aristocratic of tones. Before his brother can get a word out his finger tightens on the trigger, the bolt flying true and hitting his brother in the stomach. A non fatal but agonising injury. And from this range most likely deliberate "What was that?" he says over his brother's scream as he slowly ratchets down the next bolt and takes aim at his kneecap.
<OOC> Aldean says, "Is the Tsuran between me/Miruan and Latenat and the captive?"
<OOC> Rakim says, "Basicaly Rakim's brother and the captive are roughly level. Rakim on the oppsite side of them to Mir, Aldean and Lat"
<OOC> Aldean says, "OK."
<OOC> Rakim says, "But Rakim's big bro is not really in a position to stop anyone moving past him :)"
<OOC> Aldean says, "Shouldn't be a need to get Latenat out of the way."
<OOC> Rakim nods "If anyone looks closely he is breathing still"
<OOC> Aldean lets Miruan go first.
Ah hah! Mir would recognize that hat. Mir is going to keep an eye on her guard. Ready to kick him somewhere important if it comes to it. She is going to keep an eye on the guards, her eyes widen as the Rakim emerges dramatically. She resists the urge to cheer, doing her best to keep the way clear. Though, if Aldean doesn't, she will move towards the captive.
Seeing that Miruan is moving towards the captive, Aldean glances up, eyes Rakim measuringly for a long moment, then closes the distance with Latenat quickly, closing the distance between them and placing fingers on the rogue's neck, checking for a pulse and so forth. There's a momentary hesitancy there in his movements, but he seems to know what he is about.
You paged Aldean with 'Yeah, a paralysis one used by slavers. That I totally made up :P'
The crossbow sounds again as the bolt flies out, pinning Rakim's brother to the earthen floor through his kneecap "Something the matter?" he asks, his voice sounding almost absent being devoid of any emotion. The bound Sil starts to struggle, trying it seems to get himself free. There is a cruel smile that makes the family resemblance between the two even more obvious. His brother writhes in pain and screams as Rakim calmly ratchets down another bolt "I can't quite make out what you are saying" he taunts in that same void of a voice as he takes aim again.
You paged Miruan with 'Mind posing Mir taking off the captives's hood and gag? if that is something Mir would do'
Miruan tries not to pay too close attention as Rakim takes his revenge. On one hand, she can't fault him. Even the mother moon goddess has her vengeful side. But her mission is the captive, and Rakim has suffered at their hands. So for her part, she'll move to take off the elderly sil's hood and gag. "Hang on, we've got you, sir."
You paged Aldean with 'Mir is going to free his master, who is possibly the only one who can stop him easily. If you are happy to run with that?'
The presumed Fiadalis is a Llyranesi old enough to show some faint signs of age "RAKIM!" he says sharply, after a few attempts to clear his throat. His voice is rusty with disuse but he still has all the authority of a senior Inquisitor behind it. This most certainly gets Rakim's attention, the Tsuran's gaze snapping up from his pitifully writhing brother to the Sil "Master" he says as emotion returns to his voice.
Revenge forgotten he drops his crossbow and moves swiftly to kneel down by Fiadalis making small distressed sounds rather unlike his usual self. For his part his brother takes the chance to try to free himself from the bolt pining him to the floor.
After a moment, Aldean looks down at Latenat, shakes his head, and lays him out a bit more comfortably against the wall before standing and moving to help Miruan. He's too late, though, so instead picks up his morningstar again and walks over to the elder brother. "This ain't personal, mate," he tells the man, before reversing the morningstar and aiming it at the man's temple.
<OOC> Aldean says, "He's looking to simply knock the guy out."
"Let's tie this fellow up while -" She pauses. "While we can," Yes. Miruan is quietly respectful. Pause. "Or that," She considers Aldean's idea. Much better, and he's a more experienced combat. "Do you need anything to get him free?" She asks Rakim. "I don't think we should linger here long. I do have a light warhorse if your Master needs a ride."
You paged Latenat with 'WB, nice time to come back really :)'
<OOC> Aldean says, "FYI, I don't have a whole lot longer, it's getting late here."
<OOC> Rakim says, "Pretty much done :) off to the temple after this"
<OOC> Rakim says, "Thank you so much for coming along and being a part of this"
<OOC> Miruan aws, thanks! Thank you for running this. :D
<OOC> Miruan says, "It was fun. Mir thinks Rakim is rad."
<OOC> Aldean nodnods! Thank you for inviting me to be a part of it.
<OOC> Silmeria says, "...And *now* I have room to return. Goddamnit, I'm sorry Rakim."
"Are you alright to walk master, what did they do to you?' Rakim asks as hardness begins to return to his face. Fiadalis reaches out to lay a slender hand on Rakim's arm and says something softly in an ancient sounding Sil language. Whatever it was seems to calm his apprentice down, although he shows a trace of grim approval as Aldean sends his brother into dreamland. He slowly stands and helps his master to his feet, the elderly Sil looking to Miruan and offering her a smile. He doesn't seem to have been tortured but is showing the signs of prolonged captivity and neglect "Thank you dear" he says in a kindly tone of voice "I think it best if we get to the temple here in town where my apprentice can tell me just what he unleashed here. I still have not cured him of his overdeveloped sense of theatre" he adds with fond asperity in his voice.
<OOC> Rakim says, "NP Sil :)"
<OOC> Aldean actually, I have an idea. Do you mind?
<OOC> Rakim says, "Not at all :)"
You paged Latenat with 'Feel free to have the poison wear off any time you want :)'
<OOC> Miruan snickers. I just keep forgetting that I have a light warhorse.
Once the man is knocked out, Aldean with a quick jerk snaps the bolt and frees the man from teh ground, pulling the bolt out in the process. He them extracts from a pouch at his belt two small vials and leaves them there next to the man before straightening. "Aye, we'd best begone afore the guard smells fire an' shows up. But beggin' yer pardon, cap'n ... ye'll not get across town lookin' like that unnoticed. Follow me." He pauses a moment, then hefts Latenat fireman style over his shoulder and gestures that the group should follow.
<OOC> Aldean says, "And yes, Silmeria, you can still jump in at this point."
"Well, someone has to be good at theatre or we'd all be bored every time we told stories," She beams at Aldean and Rakim. The compliment is for both of them. "Or at least people do when I do and it's not the migratory bird that dove into my robes." BIRD TO THE CLEAVAGE. She smiles the elderly Sil and Rakim. "Sure. You may take my horse. I should keep walking anyway." Kicking is important. Miruan doesn't neglect leg day. "And yes," She nods and will follow Aldean, looking to Rakim and the elderly fellow.
"Did you really have to set fire to the place? have you been spending too much time amongst 'adventurers'" Fiadalis says with a faint frown, as someone who likes to preserve old tombs they don't seem to be amongst his favourite people in general. Unless he needs something retrieved of course.
Rakim actually blushes slightly, tingeing his cheese a dusky rose, he clears his throat a few times before adding quietly "It seemed a good idea at the time Master" he ventures, with rather more diffidence than he has shown anyone else in this city "Also it was only a -small- fire, barely spread at all" he adds.
There's the soft *click* as Rakim and the Sil exit the building; that sound that everyone who has ever heard a gun being readied knows is *scary.* A moment later, though, there's an answering ratchet of a hammer being lowered slowly, rather than let fall. "Oh good," Silmeria says from beneath and behind a nearby shrubbery, and before long the Inquisitor-cum-tatterdemalion makes her way into visibility, eyes flicking over the party. "...All as well as it could be? And what happened to Master Latenat?"
<OOC> Silmeria says, "...Unless y'all haven't left yet. x.x"
<OOC> Silmeria says, "If so, I'll hold."
<OOC> Aldean says, "I'm good with us walking out of the building as we talk."
<OOC> Rakim says, "Works for me"
<OOC> Miruan is fine with that. I may grab my walk and Mir can walk alongside the horse.
"I suspect a poisoned dagger," Miruan admits. "I saw him get hit with something and he fell over. I'm not a doctor or a healer, though." But it's not rocket surgery to put two and two together. Nevertheless, Miruan will quietly join the group. She does have a horse, and they can ride it.
<OOC> Miruan will be back in awhile. If you guys are still RPing, I shall bug you! If not, it was fun. Thank you. :D
The half-sil coughs and makes attempts at getting onto his feet 'neath his own power, long fingered hands flexing sporadicaly as the nerve agent begins to run its course.
<OOC> Aldean says, "Thank you!"
<OOC> Rakim says, "Thanks for coming I hope you had fun Mir :)"
<OOC> Miruan totally did. And Mir's horse is named Sir Trots-A-Lot. She's silly.
Latenat has disconnected.
"Fire be one o' the few things as'll draw the eyes of the guards hereabouts, mate," Aldean tells Rakim as he exits the building. The soft *click* makes him freeze ... and the voice makes him unfreeze. "Poison, lass," he tells the Inquisitor tightly. "We'd best make gone. Follow me." As Latenat starts to wiggle, he'll find himself over Aldean's shoulder. "Peace mate, it ain't safe ta stay here." He leads the group a few streets down and into an alleyway.
<OOC> Aldean says, "Durn it."
<OOC> Miruan says, "? Sorry. Cancel Mir's first sentence."
<OOC> Aldean says, "I'm sorry."
Latenat has connected.
<OOC> Aldean says, "No, it's fine. Hang one."
"Fire be one o' the few things as'll draw the eyes of the guards hereabouts, mate," Aldean tells Rakim as he exits the building. The soft *click* makes him freeze ... and the voice makes him unfreeze. "She's got the right of it, lass," he tells the Inquisitor tightly. "We'd best make gone. Follow me." As Latenat starts to wiggle, he'll find himself over Aldean's shoulder. "Peace mate, it ain't safe ta stay here." He leads the group a few streets down and into an alleyway.
One arm stays supporting his master but at that sound Rakim's other reaches for his crossbow. At Silmeria's voice he relaxes a little "It is a poison they use on slaves. Doesn't kill, just paraluyses and..." on cue Latenant starts to move he nods briefly to Aldean "It worked though" he adds defensively, blushing slightly again as Fiadalis starts to chuckle.
Silmeria's eyes flick from Aldean to Rakim, one eyebrow rising faintly, before she moves to help Aldean support the rogue. "To the Temple, then. I'm sure your master will be more than ready to relax in his rooms anyhow..." Smiling up at the Sil, she bobs her head. "Inquisitor Longmire, Speaker for the Dead, sir. It's good to finally meet you."
<OOC> Aldean says, "You know? I think I will just scratch the bit about the alleyway and set Latenat down. I really have to sleep, I need to be up in five hours."
<OOC> Rakim says, "No worries, sleep well and thank yuo again :)"
<OOC> Aldean says, "Thank /you/. *npms around!*"
Aldean has disconnected.
<OOC> Latenat says, "rest well!"
"Fiadalis, Inqusitor of Eluna and Master Acquisitioner" the Llyranesi replies to Silmeria. He is old enough to show a few signs of aging, added to what looks like a long period of neglect "I would like to thank you all for a most timely rescue. The al'Sarah are not a kindly group at the best of times" he adds with a faint -look- at Rakim, who clears his throat and stays silent as they move along through the back alleyways.
Announcement: Whirlpool shouts, "Late Night Plot: Who's aboard? Page me if you're interested!"
Announcement: Whirlpool shouts, "It'll be a quicky."
"Well, you do mean a great deal to Rakim from what I've seen, Master Acquisitioner," Silmeria answers with a bright smile as she takes over for the job of escorting a mostly-unconscious Latenat to the Temple. "And I'm more than relieved to see you away, and happier still when you're safely in the hands of the Temple."
<OOC> Rakim says, "Lat? don't want to jump over you."
<OOC> Latenat grins, Aldean's got me. He wont be talkative for a while
<OOC> Rakim says, "RGR"
"I think leaving Abir alive could be a mistake, maybe I should..." Rakim begins as he starts to look back to the warehouse. Fiadalis's expression grows a little stern as he grasps the young human's wrist "You are not one of them anymore. Remember that" despite his current frailty his voice carries a lot of authority and somewhat abashed Rakim nods and continues on.
Announcement: Whirlpool shouts, "I still have a spot open :)"
"Rakim," Silmeria says, her gentle voice gaining a note of earnestness, "he's very right. And once you've told me all that's happened, I'll see to it that another Temple has their eye on a clan of cruel grave-robbers. Please... do leave the dealing of death to those who will be sure it's done best for all."
Latenat's usually graceful movements are laggardly, and he accepts all assistance from Aldean and Silmeria without much ado but appears to be in control of his higher faculties and tracking the conversation if his head movements are anything to go by.
"If anyone is worthy of a cruel end..." Rakim begins with a bit of heat in his voice, that fades with a look from his Master. He bites back whatever it is he was going to say and simply nods to Silmeria. He moves along in silence for some time until they near the Temple district "Not too much longer" he says to both Fiadalis and Latenat.
"There was an Absolution I spoke to, once, back in Isobar," Silmeria begins, looping one of Latenat's arms behind her neck to keep him in more or less a straight line. "I was still an acolyte, and he was overseeing my martial training. I'd asked him, why don't all who enter Vardama's service learn the assassin's trade?" Chuckling softly, as though at the foolishness of her youth, the blond shakes her head. "'There are a great many men and women on this world,' he said, 'who deserve to die. But there are fewer still, who deserve to kill. Be careful, acolyte, and remember the taking of a life is as great a burden as dying.'" Trailing off, she looks to Fidalis, smiling gently. "Personally... I think that in the time to come, you'll be happier for this. You'll remember this night as the night you saved your Master. Not the night you murdered your blood kin."
<OOC> Miruan says, "Whirl is poking me, should I snag?"
<OOC> Miruan also is back! Wooh RP!
<OOC> Rakim says, "Go for it Mir!"
<OOC> Silmeria says, "Woo!"
<OOC> Silmeria says, "Up to you!"
<OOC> Miruan okays! Mir will be with the horse and helping in the background.
JUDGE: Whirlpool summons Miruan away.
Miruan has left.
"Damned, anti-venom." the scoundrel's words are clumsy and mealy-mouthed as though speaking through a mouthful of porrige, Latenat doesnt appear to be in any amount of distress however but endures the effects patiently even as the symptoms slowly lift.
"The only kin I have are here tonight with me" Rakim says softly, clearly a little uncomfortable with all the genuine emotion of this evening. Luckily he is saved from further displays as they enter the temple. Elunites tend towards the nocturnal so in no short time a flock of various clergy descend and usher folks to the smallish infirmary, as most go to the nearby Temple of Althea. Fiadalis gets the most attention but everyone is checked and treated if needs be.
"I'll keep that in mind," Silmeria says, patting Rakim on the shoulder as she moves off to make sure Latenat is properly seen to. "And do let me know if you need help again, Rakim?"
<OOC> Rakim says, "I can RP for longer but if folks need to go I can close here"
