LGBTQAwesome!
Heya!
While we are an old game, we are also continually looking for ways to update, and reinvent ourselves. Sometimes this takes a little longer than others, but you know, we do get there.
Our theme in general, is not big on limiting someone's options because of their gender. Likewise, because of their orientation--one only has to look to Angoron and Tarien, or Serriel and Vardama. The general assumption is that in a world as magically varied as Ea is, that these things just aren't worth bothering about. That said, over time, and through various conversations with y'all, some of the cultures on Tenebrae will be getting small updates.
That is, nothing that changes a culture as a whole. More, tidbits and nuggets, for those who would like to explore them, of positive representation of LGBTQ culture.
If you are interested, or have ideas in particular for a positive representation, please drop us a line.

Events of the City
Murders: There have been a string of murders perpetrated by a cult known only as the “Black Masks”. The murders have been seemingly random: the victims have been people of all classes and races. The only thing which the murders have in common is that a black mask has been left on each of the bodies. Adventurers have found that the Black Masks believe that these murders will cease the other deaths that have been happening in the city due to the plague.
Due to a recent article in the Alexandrian Tribune highlighting that belief, some citizens have taken it upon themselves to address the plague. Lately, there have been a number of attacks made on citizens of the city, even those who may not be carriers of the plague.
What is known is that the leader of the Black Masks who is only known as “Mask”, and claims to be a prophet of Vardama (the goddess of death). So far any and all attempts to apprehend him have ended in failure but citizens have been warned to be on the lookout for anyone wearing a black mask as they may be a member of this particular organization.
Vampire: A strange green-eyed and dark haired vampire has been spotted in Alexandria and its surrounding regions on several occasions. This vampire seems quite powerful, able to walk in sunlight and has made off with several citizens of the city. All of them seem willing to go with the man, but civilians are warned not to interact with him, and adventurers have been put on alert to be distrustful of his presence. It is unclear his motivations as of yet, but knowing his ilk one can not imagine that he works for the good of the city.
Events in the Wilderness
In the wilderness, there have been a multitude of sightings of strange plants and creatures. Though at first glance some creatures appear ordinary, others display unusual characteristics, shapes, or even odors. Worse, many of them seem to be quite hostile and actively attack those who go out into the wilds around the city. While this issue does not seem to extend far from Alexandria, scout reports suggest it is gradually becoming worse and worse.
Do not be surprised, then, if you go out into the woods and find a squirrel with two tails and razor sharp teeth, or a tree which picks up its roots and wanders off. Such things are becoming the norm, and no one seems to know the exact source of what is happening besides the assumption that the land has somehow become tainted or corrupted.
The Plague
As if things were not bad enough, a deadly plague has struck the citizens of Alexandria! This plague has all the symptoms of a flu, yet one that leads inevitably to the deaths of those who catch it. So far, there has been no sight of a cure. Even magical means seem to be utterly useless. It has been so deadly that it has caused fear and panic to spread to the streets of the city and rumors run rampant about possible “cures”; charlatans are out in the shadows seeking easy money from others’ fears.
This plague causes those who are killed by it to turn into zombies. When burned, the dead return as ghosts intent on spreading the very thing that killed them. It seems there is no end to the plague’s horror. Thanks to rumors, it has even driven some people to murder after hearing that the Black Masks, who normally served as an upstanding cult of Vardama, saw targeted murders as a means to end the plague.
There is a bright spot of hope, however. Recently, several revelations have been made when it comes to the source, the kind of illness that it is, how it affects and infects, and what might be done to stop its forward progression. There’s even been an actual delay invented by a local wizard who discovered a potion which can stop the illness in its tracks for a time. Though currently being placed in the dungeon of the Arcanist’s Guild where there is no magic seems the best remedy, it is certainly not one which can be made for everyone.
