- Soldier's Defense, Afternoon
Heavy sleet and freezing rain pound against the hospital windows, attempting to drive out the stoked hearth inside to keep the patients warm. While the gardens outside help with their ward from Dana, only so much can be done for the water and chill.
Speaking of chill, there is a silverscaled makari that is sitting in front of one of the fireplaces with many towels strewn about him. All of this weapons and armor have been peeled off and sat aside, his fanged visage somehow expressing a pout.
The makari is freezing cold. But that's not the issue. He's thawing out. As he's covered in a solid half foot of ice. "... thisss one thought it would be enjoyable to play in the weather..." Skiel grumbles.
Even for those rushing through the weather, it isn't very pleasant. The door opens just long and far enough for Kira to slip herself in before she ensures it's closed again. For her sake, and (more) for those inside seeking treatment or shelter. Her cloak is slightly ... crisp, which she tries to resolve with removing it and crackling it near the door to get rid of what she can.
After hanging it up, she moves further in, offering an undampened smile and wave to those on duty, or in care, as she looks for-"Oh my..." Sith-makar she is familiar with. Scale-cicles, though, are completedly different. And that doesn't even start to cover the ... ice dragon? "Are you alright?" she asks as she nears the one near the fire.
The massive makari is barely able to move, almost like a few planks of wood were tied to his back. Except the wood is ice. There's a rumbling, "Mrrh?" as the silverscale attempts to turn, however slight, along with the crackling of ice.
Dead eyes blink at the woman. "Ah. Yessss..." he hums in a bassy tone. "Thisss one isss well. Do not fear, they are unharmed. Just... stiff. Thisss one would break it off, but they do not wisssh to send shardsss flying. Thisss happensss occasionally."
Kira realizes only after that he isn't moving much, and the reason why. "Pardon me..." She steps around to get in his easy line of sight (but not inside the hearth). Her smile can be seen rekindling now that he seems unharmed, just ... a bit stuck. "I hope it happens less occassionally than more, and I am glad you aren't injured. Is there anything I could do to help?" She glances over the icy shell. "That can't be very comfortable."
There's deep rumbling of Skiel laughing softly. "Ssssuch isss the woes of being ssso clossse to the sssilver kin." He carefully raises a hand to grab at a long icicle dangling from his arm, and gives it a careful tug to snap it off. "If you wisssh to aid, removing sssome of the ice thisss one cannot reach would help."
He shrugs faintly. A chunk of ice falls from his arm and clonks against the ground. "No, it isss not, but the cold issss nice. They enjoy the cold. Thissss one isss Ssskielssstregar, Warrior cassste." Well, that explains all the half frozen weapons and armor beside him and out of the way.
"Peace on your nest, Sskielsstregar of the warrior caste," Kira does try pronounce it properly, as best she's able. "I'm Kira, Sentinel in service to The Healer. It is good to meet you, if not the best circumstance." She takes a step back to get a better look at him, since he's slightly larger than herself, not even accounting for the ice. "Is there anywhere you'd like me to start? Or to avoid?"
Skiel bobs his head low. "Peassse on your nessst, Sssentinel Kira. Ssskiel worksss, sssoftskin tongue hasss hard time pronouncing it," he smiles lightly, showing fangs. Though, he blinks. "The Healer? Kira isss in ssservice to the Celessstial Mother?"
It seems as if a lot of the freezing rain and sleet blasted against him as if he was staying outside for far too long. Though, the amount of ice on him is /abnormal/, the makari is almost radiates a chill. There are a number of icicles, thick as an arm, that splay off his back and neck that are slowly melting from the hearth's heat. "Where ever workssss, Sssentinel Kira. Though, avoid thisss one's chesst, they can get it," he rumbles, reaching to his front and snapping off another one. "Feel free to put sssome weight into it, thisss one will be fine."
Kira nods and steps around behind him, then. He has the front, she can help with the back? The hardest place for anyone to reach, she would think, though she does not have a tail. She is mindful of Skiel's, however. "Yes, I serve Her. Mother to us all. Everyone deserves Her Grace, and far too many really need it..." She works to find an already cracked piece near his shoulders, at least as high as she can reach, and grunts as she tugs and twists to break a piece loose.
And such a tail would be a helpful stepstool to get up higher for leverage, but it too was a encased in a hunk of ice. It does, however, faintly twitch from side to side. "Mmmmm. Thisss one'sss sssissster sservesss the Mother well. Ssseyardu. Much sssmaller than thisss one, sssilverssscale. They have much to thank for the Mother and her grace. Thisss one ssservesss the Dragonfather asss bessst they can."
It would appear that he does have a holy symbol on his neck. Though, ah, it is stuck at present underneath the ice. One that he works on removing with a few talons prying in and cracking the frozen waters.
Seeing as Kira was moving to dislodge some, Skiel widens his legs and straightens his tail to remain stable.
"Oh?" Kira is intrigued and curious, though she tries not to let that slow her efforts. He did say she could use force, but she errs on the side of caution; minimal force even if that means smaller pieces at a time. "Is she in the city? I don't know many Makari in the temple... though I have been away for a long time. I do know another who serves the Dragonfather, though. Have you met Zeke?"
While she errs on caution, Skiel is just cracking hunks of ice off one at a time, growing more mobile as each piece pops and crunches away. "Sssshe travelsss betweeen Mictlan and the Mother'sss temple often. Aiding where she can."
At that, he perks up a bit. "Yesss, Ssshaman Zeke! He hasss thisss one'sss utmosssst ressspect. They have helped thisss one before. And there are many otherssss at the temple of the Dragonfather thisss one knowsss."
Kira may not be helping as much as she wished, but she is still helping as another piece comes loose. Mostly from his perking, but it is still a piece removed! "She sounds like a wonderful person. I look forward to meeting her." She exhales a bit of a sigh. "I haven't visited Mictlan in a very long time." Kira is quick to rebound concering Zeke, though. "Zeke is very wise, and kind. He is a dear friend."
Piece removed! And... there's still so much more to crack off! "Aha! Yesss, thiss one could not reach that one!" he laughs as more pieces are snapped off. "Yess, thisss one'sss iss very proud of her! Thisss one hopesss that you two can meet sssomeday! And Mictlan isss well to visit!"
Seems like since he can't see her, he didn't pick up on that. However- "Yess. Ssshaman Zeke isss very kind. Thisss one- erm- thisss one hopesss to be their friend ssssome day."
Tak. Tak. Tak. What's that noise? A cursory glance shows that he's tapping his fingertips together. Only briefly before he grips at a spike of ice and tears it free without flinching. "Thisss one appreciatesss the help, Sssentinel Kira. Only a dozen more to go!" he grins happily.
