Little Bird Surgery Service
- Hayatiento Aerie, Unmesi Residence, Evening
The space is set.
One of the many rooms in the Unmesi Residence has been cleared away and out save for a single proper bed. Clean linens and warm water having been drawn, a crate of medicines and herbs open in the corner, as well as a couple of tables with rolled up tools nearby stand at the ready, but hidden from view with a cloth thrown over them.
Stepping into the space is two egalrin. Slixvah, but her usual decorations and flair has been stripped away with her in nothing more than white shorts, a white apron, and a pair of white gloves dangling out of a pocket. In her grey hand is a smaller hand, Banilex nervously chittering as she all but latches to Slix's side, her down feathers fluffy against her true coat of green plumage. Her wing is wrapped in a cast at the middle joint, as its bent at a painful and odd angle. It looks like the cast was removed at one point, because all the feathers have been plucked around it in preparation. "Slivvie... I-I um, I-I-I'm really scared..." the girl whispers quietly.
"It's okay lil' sugar plum," Slix warmly coos back, squeezing the hand as she leads her sister to the table. "Ya gonna go ta sleep, and you'll wake up befo' ya know it, all done." <Auran>
The house is deathly quiet. As none of the Unmesis dare interrupt this delicate work. Except for Mamaw. She's on standby in the next room.
THe Goblin arrives, slipping inside and wishing Mamaw a cheery hello. A fur-lined, leather cloak is shrugged out of, and warm boots and gloves are removed. Her usual robes have been changed out for pure white ones, with numerous pockets in it. A large-ish pouch is attached to her belt, also white with q big, red plus sign on the front.
Mamaw is given a big hug, and quiet assurances that Baby Bani will be okay. She makes her way into the prepared room, her smile bright and cheerful. "Hullo Slixvah, hello Banilex! How are you feeling?"
Reithak took some time to wander into the room, and the large egalrin paused at the threshhold, before stepping inside as well. The jackets and hats were gone, and the inquisitor had on instead a white long sleeved shirt with a brown apron over top, and a pair of goggles covering their eyes. "Good to see all three of you, glad it's finally time." They hum to theirself. "Settling in alright? You're in good hands with Slix here, I promise."
Mamaw readily dispenses hugs, her productively getting healing supplies together. Perhaps a little nervous tic, as she's over preparing. Keeping her hands busy.
Bani sinks herself into Slix's leg, one eye peering to Simony and Reithak. "I... um. No okay. Um..."
Slix pets Bani's head, the feathers on her wings animating to gently lift up the little one onto the table. "You'll be fine, little bee," she coos warmly, helping Baby Bani lay on her stomach. "Get comfy, okay?"
"U-Um... 'kay..."
Slix turns to the two. "Alright girls, lets get the most important thing done." She produces a kettle. And some tea leaves from a small box with a warning label on it. Her eye glimmer. "Tea time."

"It's alright to not be alright, Bani. That's why we're here to help." Reithak answers softly, pulling on a pair of gloves. "It'll be alright, and I appreciate you being honest. Anything particular bothering you?" She asks, taking stock of the area and where everything was.
"How much water you need, Slix? I can summon some real quick, but I need to know much you're mixing the infusion with." She asks of the witch.
"Aww, she's adorable!", the Gobbo enthuses. "Alright. While you have the kettle going, I will cast some spells."
"Please forgive me, Auran is not my best. I will cast some magics, make you not fear, make your body tough." Simony's holy symbol lifts itself from where it hangs around her neck, floating and glowing brightly as she calls upon her God. Her gestures are fully done and precise, patiently taking her time, a vast difference between these prayers and those uttered in combat.
The first spell, a simple blessing, meant to ward off fear and cleanse one's body, and guide one's hands. A pale white glow settles over everyone in the home.
The second is focused upon the small Egalrin, a golden glow that soaks into her, causing her fears to retreat into the back of her mind. They remain, but she is master over them, and they cannot worry her for a time.
The Goblin's movements continue, her prayer voice rising as she calls upon a higher spell order. The outline of a bear forms around Banilex, and a faint snuffling growl can be heard as the pale outline fades. No discernable outside change is seen, but the frail body is stronger, healthier... prepared for the pain ahead.
Banilex buries her face into her arms. "I-It hurt a lot when- when I broke it. I don' want it to hurt again," she sniffles, answering Reithak.
The room has a box of medicines and herbs in the corner, that which Slix is at, doling out portions of this seemingly hazardous tea. With it is a table full of covered tools. Which are covered to keep Bani calm, as there are several bone breaking implements within. "Jus' fill th' kettle hon," she hums to Reithak.
Bani peers up from hiding her head, the fear palpable with little tremors wracking her body and making her wings shake. One hand is habitually keeping the broken one in place. "O-Okay- woah..." Woah indeed. A child getting blessings like these? It's like the fear was small and meaningless. And the bear gets a wonder in her eyes, before the mild pain lessens. She lets her broken wing go. "Thank you, Simo... Sim... Simononony." She tried. <Auran>
"Got it, it'll feel better when it's fixed, I think." Reithak reassures, smiling in that egalrin way to the young one. The inquisitor snaps their fingers, and the kettle sloshes, filled suddenly with fresh water. "There you are, Any other prep you need me doing?" She asks, tucking her shirt into the gloves.
"Good call there, Simony." She offers cheerfully. "Glad to have you here as well."
The Goblin looks drained for a short time, breathing heavily from the exertion and intonation. But she smiles brightly at the child, and pats her chest. "Mony. You may call me Mony." Simony lays a warm hand on Bani's forehead, and then lightly strokes at her cheek.
"You safe. You strong." <Auran>
She offers a thumbs up to Slixvah, and a nod and smile to Reithak. "I wouldn't miss it."
Bani sighs in relief at the reassurance. "Thank you Mony, Reithak," she murmurs, lightly pushing her head against the small hand. "I'm trying... <Auran>
Slixvah thwaps a lever on the side of the kettle, some kind of artifice contraption getting to work bringing the water to a boil. "Thanks Reirei. Okay. Simony, gets some anesthetic outta th' medicine box. Reirei, gather up some linens and lay them over Bani, cover up everything tha' ain't her broken wing."
"Just gotta keep moving, and things'll get better. Specially when you've got so much family here to help you every step of that way." Reithak hums, nodding to Slixvah and gathering the sheets. "Gonna cover you with these sheets, alright Bani? It'll keep you more comfortable and make it easier to do our jobs." They explain, draping the linens over the smaller egalrin, in such a way as to leave a window around the wing and joint the rest above the sheets.
The Goblin puts a hand on each of Bani's cheeks, squeezing ever so gently. "You doing well!", she says cheerfully.
Nodding, Simony moves to fish around in the aforementioned medicine box. A jar is retrieved, containing a white substance. "This is going around the joint?", she wonders. She busies herself pulling on stretchy gloves that seem a size or three too big for her.
Bani cannot help but giggle at her cheeks being squeezed. "T-That's okay," she mentions to Reithak, letting her arms dangle off the bed as she's covered. "I know. It's why I'm still kickin', Mamaw says."
Slix gets tea seeping, her nodding once towards Simony. "And in it," she jabbers quickly. <Goblin-Talk> And just as quickly, she makes a whistly noise of attention towards Simony. "Nuh uh, wash ya hands first, then wash ya gloves wit' ya hands in it."
"And Nothing wrong with that. We've all gotta rely on others at times." Reithak hums softly, making sure the sheets were secure. "When you're all healed up, you'll be able to do the same for others, I'm sure."
Finished with her job, she nods to Slix, taking a step back. "Leave anything non sterile to me. The less time you both need to spend cleaning, the better." She offers to the others, returning to where the tea was being prepared. "Just say the word, and I'm here."
The Goblin cants her head, and goes to wash her hands without a word. The gloves are then worn, and washed as well. Flicking the gloves dry, she glances to Banilex, nodding her head. "Mamaw is right. You fight, you strong. You sleep soon. When you wake, arm will be right. Sore, tender, but right." Simony smiles brightly. "This is why I do this."
Bani nods slowly, her shifting a bit so the sheets could get tucked in. "I really can't wait to glide again..." she murmurs. But she glances up to Simony with a confused look. "Okay. Um. Arm?"
Slix points to her arm at Simony. "Arm." Then points up at her wing. "Wing." Quick Auran lesson!
Bani settles down as Slix comes around. The older sister gives a little head bump to the top of Bani's head before holding up a cup with an egalrin straw in it. A hand wafts over, instantly cooling. "Drink up, buttercup. It'll make ya feel better." Any healer is aware this stuff will knock you out. Bani sups slowly. <Auran>
Slix smiles to Reithak. "You'll need ta get sterile later when we gotta..." Two feathers out of Bani's view make a breaking motion. "But ya can do that later when we get there."
She deeply inhales. "Okay ladies, any questions? Simony, this is going to be kinda like fixing an elbow. But at a weird angle. It'll be good experience."
"I'm sure the others are looking forward to getting to glide with you as much as you are, Bani." Reithak chuckles softly, sorting out a few things. "Course Slix, believe me, I know the importance of a sterile environment." She nods to the witch slowly. The inquisitor did grow up in a aerie isolated and ravaged by a plague, after all.
"I do got a question, Bani. Think you could count backwards from thirty for me?"Xn <Auran>
Mony giggles, and nods. "My mistake, learning still. Arm. Wing." The Goblin gestures to the correct body pats as she says them. "Okay, I work now." She begins applying the anesthetic to the wing joint, being sure to rub it carefully into the skin. "Nice and gentle."<Auran>
"I see, hmm, I think I've got the right of it in my head. I've got this."
Bani looks a little confused at Reithak as she finishes drinking the tea with a grimace on her face. It tastes terrible. "Um... okay? Thirty. Twenty nine, twen-" Thunk. Her head falls against the pillow. Slix giggles, gently adjusting her sister's head to lay better. The broken join has been plucked clean and ready to be worked on. <Auran>
"I know ya do, Rei," Slix hums, sticking to Trade. She gives her sister a few more pokes to make sure she's out before sighing and walking over to wash her hands. "This is gonna suck a lil' bit, but as macabre as it sounds, fledgling bones are easy ta break." She pulls off the linen covering the tools after she gets sterile. Bonesaws, hooks, scalpels, knives, clamps. Tools of the trade. "Any last minute requests? Need to use the bathroom? Queasy? Barf bucket's ova there. Liquors in th' medicine box if ya need ta take a shot ta calm ya nerves."
Jinaru quietly peeks around the doorframe from the next room, hands folded together. "I'm here too darlin's if ya'll need me ta go run and fetch somethin'."
"Thank you Mamaw."
The large egalrin watches to make sure the small egalrin was breathing properly, and she takes a step back, breathing a sigh of relief. "Pleasant dreams, Bani." The inquisitor murmurs quietly.
"Yeah, it'll make healing back up right easier, for certain." She agrees, returning to tradespeak as well. She takes a large mask that somewhat comically slips over the majority of her beak, and ties it off. "Don't worry about me, I'm a master of keeping my spirits up, no matter what I'm dealing with." Reithak hums, taking her gloves off and washing her hands again. "But I know how important it is. You too Slix, if you're feeling off at all, let me know and I'll get you whatever you need."
There's already an unhappy sound from Simony, and the bucket has its first customer.
The Goblin then helps herself to a shot. Coughing, she returns to her spot. "R.ready when you are.", she says with a sigh.
Slixvah also partakes in a thimble sized shot, her rubbing her hands together as she picks up a scalpel. "Glad ta have ya spirits here, ReiRei," Slix coos, a tinge of nerves showing finally. The donned mask gets a curious look, but she too gets some cloth to cover her beak. "I'll keep tha' in mind, but I should be good. Th' battlefield has certainly dulled me to a lotta messed up stuff. Jus' a lil different when its ya sister."
She looks to Reithak. Simony. Jinaru. Then down at Bani. "Alright."
She raises her scalpel. Ethereal threads apparate at the blade's tip, straining. Then quietly sever. "Begone, bad fate," she whispers. "Begone illness. Ceiwen give us clear skies. Navos the knowledge to use. Ceinara the spark to see this through. And Althea fo' ya graceful touch," the witch prays aloud. "Let's get to it."
The scalpel glints as it descends.
