Arcane Break

Named after one of Alexandria's most learned (and perhaps addled) minds, the new University District of the city contains a number of entertainment spots as well as areas of culture and learning. Though many structures and sculptures can be found here, two buildings dominate the plaza with an air of friendly animosity--the grand buildings of the Society for Progressive Arcanists and the Artificer's Guild.
Poised on opposite sides of the central plaza, the two face one another like old misers, each uncertain as to what the other's up to, and pranks between students are a rule of thumb. A series of levies and fines exists should they get too far out of hand, though at times the results may be spectacular. Performers often make use of the great plaza by filling it with music, and rare is the visit without passing a performer's hat or three, five, or nine. Likewise, ramshackle shops selling every sort of magic bauble line the ways, all of varying (and often questionable) quality. A grand statue of Sage Orum overlooks it all, his expression slightly perplexed perhaps, at its mixture of grandeur, invention, glass-filled baubles, and chaos.
At the far end of the area, is the city library. From public records to research into the history of the city and the region itself, there is much one can learn at the city library. Many stories tall, the building towers up over well-lit, tightly-packed cobblestone streets.
In the distance, the Redridge Mountains rise overhead in all their glory. At their peaks, one can see the airships docking, landing, and flying off again under the banners of not only Alexandria but many great nations.
Mikilos mutters quietly to himself as he exits one of the small alchemy shops. Stepping to the side, the tall elf leans back against the wall as he takes a small vial from his pocket, tipping his head back to carefully pour a drop of liquid into each eye, grumbeling and blinking furiously at the stuff.
Victor turns and glances at Mikilos. "Are you well?" he calls out.
Mikilos frowns mildly, squinting and blinking at Victor a few moments. "Well enough. Too much scrying, hurt my eyes. They'll be fine in a day or two, but ache in the meantime. So, eye drops to try and take the ache away." He frowns again, glaring at the small vial. "Though might be easier to just hurt."
Victor stares at Mikilos, expression blank. Finally he offers, "Another option might be resting them. Are you avoiding sleep? Perhaps you could arrange to scry in shifts with others..."
Morgan nods "we do if asked for help." she looks to Mikolos and asks "do you need help scrying for things?"
Mikilos hehs, shrugs, and sighs. "I should rest. Keep telling myself I will, but there's too much to do. Was bad enough when was just trying to find Menel Dinmorin, but with Silvermoon cut off as well... I'll rest later." Blinking to Morgan, he shrugs. "Lot of people already trying to figure out whats happening with Silvermoon, though I'd not object to a couple more. As for Menel, I'm one of the few with any sort of connection to link from." He considers a moment. "Might be able to get ahold of a personal item, maybe a family member with an artistic knack to draw a sketch of his face."
Victor watches Mikilos carefully after the Sil mentions Silvermoon. "Are you from Silvermoon? Do you have connections there?" He glances at Morgan and then continues, "I'm surprised you also don't have any additional information on what has happened - and why."
Morgan says "I been sent many places of late and been to busy to look in to that. After my next trip I should have time to help out with the search."
Mikilos nods to Victor. "Born and raised. I have family there. Was trying to get ahold of my sister when first found out there was a problem. Seems no divinations are getting through, and word from people who tried going to the border has been fragmented. I'm concerned, but there are qualified people already there. I'm not happy about it, but my focus is best put towards trying to stop the Plague."
Morgan has disconnected.
Victor nods, "I see. Your efforts in that regard would appear to be among the most effective. Are you planning to try anything else in the near future? If so I wouls like to volunter my own services."
Mikilos shakes his head, and shrugs. "I'm not sure what else -to- try. I've hit a block on treatments, and the Tower is heavily Warded and moves around. Menel is typically warded as well, but sometimes gets out, away form the tower. I don't know how often, or for how long, so have to just keep trying and hope to get lucky. Not that I expect success to solve everything, but hopefully give some leads on what else to attempt."
Victor nods in understanding. "Is there a particular place you spend your time working, and planning? I encounter adventurers in the Arcanist Dungeon," he points at the cobbles below their feet, "As well as the Soldier's defense."
Victor says, "Adventurers interested in matters concerning the plague, that is."
Mikilos grins. "I vist both, but tend to work at my own lab, up at my place on the Mountain Road." He frowns mildly. "I feel a little bad about the Dungeon. It seemed like a solid idea to cure the plague when we realized it fed on magic, but now it just seems to delay things. Better than dying, I suppose, but not the most plesant place to wait for a cure to be found."
Victor watches Mikilos unblinkingly as he listens. "Those who stay in the dungeon are there voluntarily, as are those in the Soldier's Defense. I am also infected - therefore I avoid activities that would contaminate others. But I find it inconvient at both locations."
Mikilos nods, ponders a moment, then shakes his head. "Well, not -everyone- in the dungeon is a volunteer, some where there before the plague broke out, but I understand your meaning. The Defense is a nice enough place, but lately has gotten more crowded than is ideal."
Victor says, "Understandably so. But speaking of crowding, I am going to head out before the streets get busy. I have noticed a pattern in which the streets become more populated once people head home from their shops and jobs, or to dinner. I like to avoid the rush to minimize my contact with civilians.""
