  • Summary: Faranmidahn invites Auranar and Cryosanthia out into the wilderness for a picklenic, to get to know them better and get them away from books and research. As they journey, both the sith-makar and the elf lament that they haven't been outside, or out of cities, often. The weather is nice and the countryside thawed, they find a circle of stones near the road. Cryosanthia massages her cheeks, explaining they hurt after her friend Braelnoir punched her a few days ago, while answering while she might do that, her bottom jaw pops loose and drops open. Cryo must hold this in place to talk, and while she's getting over the unexpected occurance, her teeth grow to immense size. Burai, a passing wilderness orc, suggests she is a shapechanger manifesting hre wild powers. Cryo is pretty sure this isn't happening, but still ties her mouth back together with a silk strip. The group gets down to the picklenickle and Elleandra joins them, detecting them nearby. She is bursting with something to tell everyone, but before this can happen Faran becomes confused, feeling the group is being observed. Seeking out this tiny observer, she discovers a small spider that looks like a ball of white fluff. This is apparently her familiar, which she somehow acquired during the Fae Party, then forgot about when she stumbled back home. Reunited, everyone crowds to tell Faran how cute the little spider is, whom she decides to name Zephyr. Torrent is of course overjoyed that the percentage of spiders in the group is increasing.

The path from the village eventually narrows somewhat, with the trees on either side becoming more populous. Moss hangs from large stones that sit surrounded by beds of leaves that has accumulated over the years.

A few trails wander in varied directions though eventually even these woods will thicken. One particular trail carries with it the scent of natural brimstone...this trail wanders north and westward, where the trees grow thick once more. To the east, it's rumored that the druids have built a sacred site.

It's been a hard few weeks, a kalleidoscope of doubt, fear, anguish, frustration, shame and many more, tumbling freely into each other to bring whole new colors to the turmoil.

Faran, wanting to get some time away from the bustle of the city so she can let Torrent properly relax, decided to invite her dear friend Cryosanthia along for a 'day trip', whatever that means. She also decided, after the elf was so helpful, especially after the... disquieting night the all met, to invite her along both as a doubling down on her apology and as a chance to maybe let the the three get to know each other away from archives and (hopefully) dangers and stress.

So it is, now, the Lucht astride her massive Huntsman, a basket from wence the smell of several forms of baked good emanate. She seems more at ease for the outing, but she does seem to be looking about out of an old habbit.

Auaranar had brought her bow with her, carefully set against her back, and though she doesn't look particularly like someone who might use the weapon, she handles it with an air of familarity that suggests that she /has/. She moves with care through the wilderness, keeping her skirts away from the plants as much as possible and trying not to muss her clothing which is much easier said than done. Like Faran she looks around, but less with the expectation that something might be ready to attack them and more with appreciation for the beauty of nature. "It's a beautiful day isn't it?"

Cryosanthia is along. She's managed to keep up, mostly. If Torrent stretches out, she's got no chance to match the spider's speed. The mostly thawed countryside is starting to show flowers and only wet in a few places.

"This one has been inside too long. There are a lot of smells." Some things she hasn't sniffed in nearly a century, which dig strange memories and associations out of her mind. The sith-makar is looking around a lot. She seems less concerned with her clothing, but then again they are magical and nearly as old as she is, so a little dirt and stains won't hurt them and there's always the gloves if she wants to clean. "It's very bright too."

Faranmidahn smiles at the question and she looks toward Miss Auranar, "Very much so! It's so different from home. And I understand it will get more green and leafy, yes?" The albino had previously cast a spell before they set out, and has since shrugged her cloak back from her shoulders, her helm hooked on her saddlehorn. As Cryo remarks, Faran looks her way curiously, "I think they're good smells, though, don't you?" her tone light, but at the same time, she is trying to read her friend's mood.

As though reminded of her other senses Auranar takes a deep breath of the forest air and breathes out a little sound of appreciation. "I don't get out much myself, but it /is/ a nice smell. It's still early spring so things should still be growing." The rest of her words are half an answer to Faranmidahn's question, and she stops briefly by a tree to marvel at the new bright green growth on the edges of it. "Where are you from Faranmadahn? If you don't mind my asking."

"Mmhmm. They are. Just new. New-ish. I smelled them when I went to Mictlan, but I was a little preoccupied." Cryosanthia explains. She seems preoccupied now still, rubbing at her cheeks and rocking her jaw from side to side. She digs her fingers into her muscles, probing into them. Her walk seems bouncy and she has run from time to time, which is also a good sign, and her tail is up and swaying behind her. So, her mood seems good.

"My parents traveled the Desolation a lot when i was young, and-" she shrugs a little, "I think before Mother bore me the world, we spent a few of my earliest years in Vandalheim." She nudges Torrent to a pause near a low hanging branch, where a little fuzzy caterpillar inches along, "How about you, Miss Auranar? I'm so glad you decided to come along, too." She ventures a sly glance at Cryo, watching her showing some more of her... youthful energy and it gladdens the the little sorceress immensely, though she awkwardly confesses, "I've... never picked a place to picklenick before... would either of you like to choose the spot?"

Auranar glances over at Faranmidahn and shrugs. "I've never actually been outside of Alexandria that I remember." She scrunches up her nose a bit in thought. "I mean, I'm sure my parents were from somewhere in the elvish kingdom, and I was probably born there, but..." She glances away at the tree again with a touch of sadness on her delicate features. "I don't remember it. Just Alexandria."

Pulling herself out of whatever thoughts linger from those words Auranar moves ahead a little looking for a good picnic spot. "Over here looks good. There's a clearing with a small circle of stones in it." As she said, there was a small clearing there, stones making a circle in the grass. It looked like a natural formation of rocks, and they created a perfect circle in the green; an excellent place to rest their legs and sit down.

Cryosanthia laughs, "I'm likely not the best for choosing spots. In Am'Shere as long as it was mostly solid it was good to sit on provided you knew what was hunting in the area. I'd probably pick someplace too wet. Somewhere on a rise near some trees. Oh wait, Auranar's spot looks perfect."

The palescale sith keeps rubbing at her jaw, making a few strange noises and tilting her head from side to side. She ends up stretching her chin skyward, stroking underneath her throat. She pulls a wide grin and rubs at her cheeks some more.

Faranmidahn 'oh's thoughtfully and nods, noting the little shift in mood, "I'm sure you could probably visit there, someday, if.... you really wanted. I imagine it's very beautiful." She considers the indicated point and smiles, "That looks like a wonderful spot, let's try there!" she exclaims exictedly, already steering the giant arachnid with her bizarre mix of drawing rein and timed taps to his shell with her bare feet. The pale sith's odd facial calisthenics bring a puzzled, not quite concerned eye, "What's up, Cryo? Is it..?" she pauses, momentarily unsure if this is a thing that's discussed, but ventures onward anyway, "I'm sorry... are you... molting?"

Auranar takes the words to mean that they'll stay and bounds into the clearing with clear enthusiasm, even going so far as to plop down semi-gracefully onto one of the rocks. She smooths out her skirts the moment that she's sitting though and smiles over at the other two. "Do sith-makar molt?" She blinks at the question, then shakes her head.

Burai is walking the trails in the wilderness. Something draws him in the direction of the three. Maybe a scent normally only encountered in the city. Maybe their Tradespeech which similarly is a bit rare among the trees and other flora. He emerges at the edge of their clearing and waits there until he's noticed. He has one hand raised to call that much more attention to his presence. "Greetings."

"No. Well I don't think so. Yes. I mean well it happens and I might be due but I don't believe I am. It's a little hard to tell when I can't remember what happened a few weeks ago, for me. Usually it itches more. And the scales peel." Cryosanthia explains, bringing her hands down for a moment and looking at Faran, and the glance follows on to Auranar. "I asked Braelnoir to punch me as hard as she could... before our talk. I didn't feel it then, but my cheeks are really hurting now. I think she knocked something loose."

The sith waves at the approaching half-orc then massages her cheeks some more. Her jaw drops. Literally. Her mouth falls wide open and the bottom part of her snout, her chin is lying along her slender neck and she's showing off a very open maw and her throat, with her tongue kind of floating around between the two halves. Her eyes go wide. "Blep!"

Faranmidahn giggles a little at the sight of Miss Auranar's new energy and is glad she extended the invitation. She sees the burly half-orc from a mission in days past and she lifts a hand to wave, "Hello! It's been a long time, Mister Burai, I hope you've been well?" A moment of thought go back to the villagers, of a little girl she'd perhaps inspired, and the misplaced creature she and Burai had encountered, but the odd explanation brings her attention back to her friend, "You wanted her to punch-?" and she stares fully down her friend's gullet, "Cryo!" Torrent is knocked with the 'belly down' signal at once.

Auranr blinks at Cryosanthia, and then hesitantly slides off her chosen rock. She takes a few steps toward the sith-makar before realizing that there's someone else there and then she stops, her dark eyes taking Burai in carefully. Her worried expression is momentarily replaced by confusion before she remembers that Cryosanthia was /punched/. "Hello... Um... Are you alright Crysoanthia???"

Burai stares at Cryosanthia as well. "Did she say 'help'...?" He squints and then looks vaguely in the direction of Mictlan. "That's not normal. I've never seen Sith-Makar open their jaws that wide." He enters the clearing fully and walks a few steps closer, but stops a good half-dozen paces from the Sith, the way one does when not sure what to do next, or even if he should be getting any closer.

"wrllargl laa? glarrr. flalggl slllaa!" Cryosanthia attempts to speak, accomplishes spitting. She's a little surprised and disoriented too. She slips a hand under and cradles her jaw back up, and rocks it closed ensuring her teeth line up the way she likes them. She holds the back of her jaw closed and speaks carefully. "I did not know it could do that. Um... does anyone have a strip of cloth? I think I need a sling for my mouth."

Faranmidahn unbuckles her saddle and scurries off of the spider to pad quickly over toward her madibularly misaligned mate, "Oh, Cryo, what'd she punch you with, a -gauntlet-?" It must be some crazy monk delayed effect punchy thing like in 'Throws of Pashun'(get your copy, today!) if it took this long for her jaw to pop... out, down... ahhh, loose? She blinks as Cryo gets herself back in 'order' and, "I have some leftover silk that might be long enough..." she ventures. But... how will she enjoy the practice cake she brought? The lucht turns, properly prioritizing and trots over to her saddlebags to root around...

Worried Auranar draws closer, but she's far from a healer so all she can really do is wring her hands and look at Cryosanthia. "Maybe it'll stay in place now? Why would you ask someone to hit you in the first place?" Her eyebrows narrow at the sith-makar and she puts her hands on her hips.

Burai's eyes widen in surprise. Perhaps it's Cryo's seemingly calm reaction to what to him looks like she's disfigurement. "I have a sling," he offers. He searches through a satchel he wears at his waist. After a few moments, he does indeed produce the weapon consisting of string and a leather patch. He holds it out to her. "You're just going to tie your jaw shut?" After a moment he adds, "I can cast some healing magic, although it takes me time to prepare..."

Cryosanthia keeps holding her jaw on with finger and thumb back at where it hinges so she's able to speak. "I... rrr... was feeling numb Auranar and I thought it would help me feel something."

The sith looks embarassed, although one's mouth falling off does tend to do that. She holds her hand out for the sling, nodding, "I think it's okay. It might stay, I still want to tie it up for nooOOWW."

Her teeth are suddenly a lot larger, forcing her mouth open and making it seem like she has a giant shark smile. Although, dragon-toothed would be a more apt descriptor. She somewhat bites herself in the process. Of course, she can't see what happened, only feel it. Cryo makes a questioning noise while she tilts the palm of her hand and attempts to see some sort of reflection in the sheen of her scales.

Faranmidahn stops rooting as it seems Mr Burai has it under control, but, as she turns back and sees the interlocked MAW grinning at everyone, then abruptly decides that she might need that length of silk after all. Shift-shift-shift, root-root-root! Ah! Successful, the lucht turns and starts to drift toward Cryo with that.. wow that's kind of creepy... need of... hers. Ahem. She looks to see what Miss Auranar makes of all this, but offers the strip of silk up to Cryo to take if she doesn't think the sling will cut it.

Auranar's eyes are wide with shock, and she urges with her hands for Faranmidahn to move a little more quickly in bringing the strip of silk to Crysoanthia. "Ahhhh, that looks like it hurts!" She moves in a little bit, knowing that her words aren't that comforting. "You need to be more careful with yourself Cryoanthia! I..." She looks at Burai. "Can you really heal her? I mean... Even if it takes a little bit its better than /leaving/ her like this!"

"It will take several hours of study," Burai replies to the question of healing. He seems just a bit embarassed about it. Then: "Are you a shapeshifter?" Burai guesses as he hands over the sling to Cryosanthia and then steps back to his previous non-commital distance. "Have you ever awoken as if from sleep, only in a place or in circumstances completely unfamiliar to you? Such as..." he tries to think of a good example. "Such as halfway up the side of a seemingly unclimbable mountain with no idea how you got there?" After a moment he adds in an even tone, "Or with the taste of some raw uncooked animal in your mouth?" He doesn't move any closer but begins to pace as he considers the idea. "This could be the start of your primal powers awakening."

Cryosanthia is desperately reaching for the sling, and the silk, and keeping her mouth closed even though there's a lot of large sharp teeth now. She wraps the silk over the bridge of her snout, down under her cheeks then ties it off on her horns. At this point her teeth have returned to normal size so she wraps the sling around the nose-end of her snout, leaving a little slack. She tests her ability to talk without holding her face together. First, she answers Burai's questions, "Yes... but not in the way you're thinking."

Carefully, she opens and closes her mouth. "I rather thought I was done with surprise bodily changes after I stopped being a youngling. It's... it's hurting less Auranar. Felt like muscle cramps, now they're gone."

Faranmidahn looks properly abashed as she deciphers Miss Aura's urgings as chidings. Ahem, "Are you..? Nod if you're in pain." she intones, though she inwardly wishes -shake your head shake your head shake your head- She says, "I have a healing potion in my pouch if it hurts!" though Burai's questions settle her... Ok, almost calm her until the list inclundes fine sleep dining. Is that really a thing?? The final... there's some relief as the Maw returns to Cryosanthia's usual array of choppers, though there is still some concern there. What did Sally do to her friend?

Auranar eyes Burai. "She's not an /experment/ for you to figure out." She sounds a bit reproachful of the man and she turns her attention back to Cryosanthia. "Take the healing if you need it Cryosanthia. I'm sure Faran's potion will help you." Her voice is more gentle as she speaks to the sith-makar.

Burai returns Auranar's look, but a bit uneasily. "No, she's not," he agrees after a bit. "I assure you that was not what I meant." Then he slowly adds, as if the thought just occured to him, "But pain that fades is not much reason for concern, or for healing." He looks at Cryosanthia again for signs of a reaction to the statement.

The sith-makar reaches out for the potion, "I'll get you a new one when we're back in town." She carefully drinks it, and the magic takes effect. The lingering effects from the solid sock to the jaw fading away. She's still reluctant to take off the bindings, just in case.

"Everything... feels normal. It didn't hurt. The potion was really a just in case. I'll... well I should visit Mictlan again soon, so I'll see if there's a sith I can ask about it. Everyone I've seen turn into things goes all the way at once, not in bits. I'm sorry to interrupt. We can get back to the picklenickle?"

Faranmidahn blinks and looks between the two non-sith at the exchange. She emphaticly agrees with Ms Aura's sentiment, but doesn't quite think that's where Mr Burai was going, and she gives him a somewhat sympathetic look, "It's been that kind of month, Mr Burai, Miss Auranar is just concerned." She smiles at Cryo as she forks over the potion, "It's ok, Cryo. Are you sure you're feeling up to it?" Then, just to show there's no lingering, or initial, ill-will, she'll approach the orc and reach out to lightly touch his arm, "Excitement aside, I'm pleased to see you're well."

The man's words ease a little of Auranar's tension toward him, but all she really offers him in the way of apology is a short nod that shows she's glad he understands. She gives Faran a small smile for understanding her tension, and for apologizing on her behalf, but the lions share of her attention is still on the sith to make sure that she isn't still hurt. "Only if you're certain you can Cryosanthia. We can do this another time if you're still not feeling well."

Burai again accept Cryo's reassurances. He nods to Faran and then takes a few steps back. "Getting back to your picnic..." he shifts his gaze to the Sith. That's not quite what she said is it? He mumbles something and then goes on, louder and more audibly. "Sounds like a fine idea. Enjoy the wilderness." He turns and strides off into the woods once more. Rather than one of the paths he steps directly through the vegetation which barely sways at his passage.

"I'm good Faran, I'm good Auranar. Really, I look forward to when I have a day where I don't fall apart, emotionally or physically." Cryosanthia grins at her friends, then slips a hand up to her cheek, just in case. "I'll be fine. Pretend I'm adopting a pose, or if things go strange I'll tighten everything up and hum my responses. I think some relaxation outside is what we all need."

She waves as the half-orc vanishes back into the woods, "I'll... leave his sling over there when we leave, I guess." She looks around at the others, then looks at the circle of stones.

"Should we sit around it?"

Faranmidahn watches the Orc depart and only gives a little nod. But, he means well, and she takes that as discomfort to work on, later. She looks to Auranar with a little smile of her own, then, "Pic-nic... have I been saying it wrong this whole time?" she wonders. Hmmm, "Maybe along one of the edges, I think, so we're sure we have a dry spot to sit on?" she answers, then starts to guide Torrent back up to his feet and leads him toward the ring and sort of cants her head a little about halfway there, then after another step or two just sort of shrugs and gives the spider her belly-down command again so she can unstrap the picnic basket.

Auranar looks a trace embarrased at Faranmidahn. "I wasn't going to correct you. You seemed so excited that it didn't really seem to matter tha you had the word pronounced a little wrong." She smiles at the other woman and heads toward the circle slowly. "I'm going to sit on the rocks rather than the grass if you two don't mind. It'll keep the grass from staining my dress."

Cryosanthia looks at Auranar, "Oh! I didn't realize. I thought it was a word play game." She follows the elf, her feet sink into the ground a little more, and rather than sit she lies on the ground and curls around one side of the circle. It gives her the excuse to support herself on an elbow and keep her hand resting on her jaw. She tilts up the nearest rock to look under it, then taps it down and back into place.

Faranmidahn's cheeks bloom in rose and she gets a peculiar look on her face as she rubs the back of her neck, "Ahh... I see." Ahem, but, "Anyway! I have some more of that honey bread, and some smoked beef, and something called sun-dried mangoes. I'm not sure what they are, but they smelled-!" The lucht suddenly blinks off to one side, seems to think about something, then, "They smelled really good!"

"That all sounds wonderful. Is there anything I can do to help set up?" Auanar knows she's hovering a bit, but she'd like to be helpful and that much is clear.

The sith sniffs towards the basket, trying to catch the scent of the dried mangoes, which she doesn't, but she does pick up the smoked beef. "The all smell great."

She rakes her hand across the ground and picks up some of last season's leaves and holds them to her snout, inhaling. "Not the best, but it's nice. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help." Cryo offers, as she slides into more of a lying position on the ground.

Faranmidahn is happy that went over well, she wasn't totally sure what to go with. There isn't any hesitation between Auranar's offer and her, "Oh, please do. I hope I brought a enough for everyone!" She manages to get the blanket, a think one much like an adventurer's bedroll, though clearly meant for someone far larger than herself, and unfurls it. "Do you mind opening the wine, Cryo? I'm... not always sure I can do it without spilling half of it."

"Oh sure!" Cryosanthia sits up, reaching for the wine. "I'll be able to, do you have a corkscrew."

Auranar gladly lays out the blanket, pulling it around and getting the wrinkles out so that it sits smoothly on the grass. As big as it is maybe she wouldn't have to sit on the rock after all... She straitens with satisfaction and then grins at Faranmidahn. "There we go!"

Cryosanthia gets a bottle open, and uncorks the wine. She finds a nice, wide and stable rock to set it on. "We'll need glasses."

She rocks where she's sitting, getting her tail out behind her and ground underneath her comfortable. A lot of leaves are sticking to her clothes. There are stains she's unconcerned about. She watches Faran eagerly for some food.

Faranmidahn gives a grateful smile to Auranar as she helps with the blanket. There is some quick study of the blanket and, she murmurs something under her breath and there is a sparkle of magical 'pixie dust' near one of the corners, and a tinier shimmer along the farther hem from her, that done she smiles, "Oh, there should be some glazed cups in the leather bundle on top of the plates." Her lips purse slightly and she arches an eyebrow for a moment, then hmm's, "Seeing Mr Burai reminded me of a mission we were on, and there was this adorable human girl who was the only one who wasn't afraid of Torrent! She was so darling, she asked if she could pet him!" Sigh, "Alas, her mother found him less endearing and forbade it."

Auranar arches an eyebrow at Faran. "That's a shame. I guess most people would be intimidated by a spider his size." She glances over at Torrent and eyes him for a moment. She settles down on one of the rocks and again fixes her skirts so that they are straightened. "Most people are afraid of things that they don't understand, and I guess spiders of unusual size are among those things."

"Ah, of course." Cryo reaches into the leather bundle and brings out three cups. She pours the wine in them, setting them on rocks so they'll be in reach. Next she looks over at Torrent, "That's sad. He has nice eyes, once you get used to him, and he's very fuzzy. I used to think you should train him to lurk on the ceiling of the Fernwood, hide up in the rafters. So anyone that looked up long enough would get a shock."

Faranmidahn smiles impishly at Cryo's suggestion, but waves it off, "Oh, no... I've... well people get a little..." ahem, "Smelly when Torrent surprises them. I don't think the girls at the Fernwood would appreciate..." She trails off, arching an eyebrow as she looks around, ".. hmm.. Cleaning up." Ahem, she looks between the two and wonders, "Have you... ever felt kinda curious... but not sure what you're curious about?"

Auranar smirks quietly, clearly amused with the idea, and letting out a little laugh when Faran stumbles around her phrasing. "I can see why you wouldn't. I'd be worried that someone would attack him by accident." She picks up the wine and looks at the lucht fondly. "Thank you for this by the way Faranmidahn. It was a really good idea."

Not far from the path, hidden, but not perfectly, is a tidy, comfortable camp that Elly calls home. It is on her return to that place which sets her on a path lying right across the picnic. She is wary in her approach, at first, but the voices are unmistakable, and having taken care to put herself downwind means she can hear those words long before the sounds of her motion might disturb anyone. Her heart now set at ease, she pushes away from the bole of a tree and walks directly towards the group. She hesitates perhaps a few dozen strides and calls out, "Beautiful day for a picnic!"

Cryosanthia nods, "It is. I'm surprised sometimes what people don't and do attack in the city. Sometimes they completely freak out over a large pommeranian, but wandering demons or a feather dragon is just fine. This is great. Hmmm."

Cryosanthia gazes at her wine glass, at the wine, "Sometimes Faran. I just had the weirdest delayed thought. Do you remember when we were fighting Kol and I stabbed him with my ice dagger. I can't remember if he healed, usually he does that very fast. I know he drank someone's blood. Do you think he's vulnerable to ice too? Anyhow, what were you curious about?"

Hearing the call, Cryosanthia sits up, waves, "Elly! It is. Hello."

Faranmidahn blushes an bows her head, "You're very welcome, Miss Auranar, I'm glad we could do this. You seeme dlike very nice woman, and I was hoping this would give us a chance to get to know each other, better." She doesn't seem particularly alarmed by the arrival of the Druid, though she does seems slightly distracted by something before, "Ah, hello, Miss Elleandra, how are you?" Cryo's topic dims her mood a little bit, but, the lucht turns to her, "I'm not sure... now it's... alarm... no.. now it's... " The hell??

Elleandra looks at the picnic for a moment, hesitating and stepping behind a tree. When she emerges again, a few seconds later, she is no longer wearing her usual leathers, but instead is clothed in a silky, pale blue sarong and a matching halter top. "There, now I feel a bit better prepared to relax with you," she explains. She finishes folding up her cloak and settles it across her pack. She does notice the spider as she approaches and looks at it curiously. Without any explanation, she says to it, "I am not a food." Satisfied, she turns and asks, "May I join you?"

Auranar settles into her seat and lifts a soft hand of welcome to Elleandra as the other woman changes in order to join them. "Ahhhh, I love your dress. Very nice. Much more comfortable looking than /this/." She motions to her own dress which... to be fair looks a touch restrictive. She glances at Faran though, her brows furrowing as they had before. "Are you alright?"

Cryosanthia smiles, watching Elly's clothing change, "The sleeves are great, aren't they. That looks very comfortable."

The sith is wearing a layered set of robes. Specifically she's got something like a sleeveless dress that goes down to her ankles, which tucks in a the waist and only covers three-quarters of the way around, splitting just above the tail and leaving that and the backs of her legs exposed. Except the second layer is a robe with two panels across the chest, long sleeves for her arms, and a short sleeve for her tail, and the rest of it covers the backs of her legs and wraps most of the way around the front. Of course, it was white, now it's muddy with leaves sticking to it.

Faran's reaction draws her attention as well, "Is something happening?"

Faranmidahn continues looking around with growing puzzlement before she brings up her hand and starts to make some intricate gestures, as she whispers, "Magic forces sweeping earth to sky, reveal your flow to my focused eye." and a pink glow begins to emanate from her eyes as she sweeps her gaze about, 'I'm... I'm getting feelings that aren't making....' she stops the sweep and cants her head, staring at a tree branch, '...sense..?' For her part, Faran is mostly in her usual kit, though a simple broach stands in for the Rose, and her helm is resting on the saddlehorn of Torrent's barding. The arachnid seems to take the introduction well, as he doesn't make any effort to challenge it. <halfling>

Auranar's ears perked. "Feelings that don't make sense?" She suddenly glanced around and put her wine glass down. "Oh Faranmidan! Are you a sorcerer? You might be picking up feelings from a familiar!" She sounded excited by the prospect, eyes roaming for the sight of a bird or squirrel acting unusually.

Elleandra nods to Cryosanthia, "They are a blessing. You can wear the most beautiful things, and, when you are in a relationship, the ability to pick pretty much anything you want to wear has its benefits." She settles down near Auranar and says, "And thank you, it is very comfortable, and if you have the money, I strongly suggest getting these fancy sleeves that Cryosanthia and I use. You can wear anything you want and it's always clean!" Which is great cause forests have lousy laundry services.

"Your clothes suit you though Auranar. I do recommend them as a purchase." Cryosanthia says, then the lucht's confusion draws her attention.

"Faran what is it? Not Fae? They can't come through every circle lying around." Cryosanthia's left hand flickers through motions. She's recognized that particular glow to the lucht's eyes. A trickle of light swirling around her arm beneath her robes, the highlight scales surrounding her eyes glow. She starts gazing around, starting with the middle of the circle then looks towards the tree Faranmidahn is gazing at. "A familiar? Well it's not me."

Faranmidahn nods a little, "I am, ahh... I've never had a familiar before... when did I...?" she stops. Blinks twice. Did she...? Could she have been -that- drunk...? Ever? She rises slowly, holding up a hand, "Well... ah... it's really small, in that tree, there." And with careful steps around the girls (and the basket, don't step in the basket, Faran) she slowly edges toward the magical signature, "Eaaaasy, little fellow, I'm not going to hurt you..!"

"I've never had one myself, but I've heard all about it from the others at the Arcanist's Guild. It's supposed to be /amazing/." Auranar moved a little bit closer so that she could get a better look at what Faranmidan was pointing to, but couldn't quite see it. Besides, she didn't want to scare the poor little creature off whatever it was.

Elly watches Faran curiously, her head tilting. "Interesting.. I am curious, though. A familiar seems to step outside the natural order. I wonder how it happens. What causes it." She stays where she is, content to watch from a distance. She asides to Cryosanthia, "There is a matter I wanted to talk to you about, once this discovery passes."

Cryosanthia coils around to better watch what Faran is up to, remaining seated. Her head stretched forward to be a little closer. She's reluctant to move closer because, well, she's large and Faran is calling it little, so an accident is all too possible. Instead, she checks the silk strapped around her is still attached, that it hasn't slipped form her horns. "What have you found, is it a familiar?"

The white-scale sith-makar nods to Elleandra, "Of course."

Faranmidahn , glances back to Auranar, "It's an odd sensation. Not unpleasant, now that I understand, just..." she muses, trailing off before she reaches slowly out to... a round little glob left by an owl or something... until it skitters suddenly to it's little fuzzy feet. One could -tan- from the stars that suddenly light up the Lucht's eyes, "Ohhhhhhh! You're -adorable-! Come here little guy..." She straightens, blushes a little, "I mean, little lady...?" Seemingly appeased, the tiny white arachnid crawls into her hand and Faran suddenly has an awed smile on her face as she turns, cradling the little creature between her palms, "Ladies... I think this is my new friend!"

Auranar grins as Faran moves back toward them, eagerly moving herself to get a better look at the little creature that the lucht is carrying in her hands. She breathes a little exhalation in surprise at how surprisingly cute the little spider is and beams at the woman holding it. "She's beautiful! Congratulations Faranmidahn! I'm so happy for you. Now we have a proper reason to celebrate!"

Elleandra laughs softly, rather enjoying the meeting. "It's always good to see two beings become bonded together," she says softly. "Does she have a name?" asks the Druid. She smiles, falling silent, though she is on the edge of saying something. It's just not the right time.

Cryosanthia is on her feet, leaning closer to see, "Oh, she's white! She looks like a coconut sprinkle sugar bun! So many eyes. So adorable. This one is very happy for you. Congratulations!"

Her tail wags behind her, she crouches and peers, "Do they name themselves?"

Faranmidahn smiles fondly up at Auranar's congratulations, "Thank you! I..." she curls one of her thumbs around the spider and gently brushes along it's body, "I'll take good care of you, like I do Torrent." she promises softly. Her eyes lifts the druid's question, then she spares a quizzical glance to Auranar, "Ah... do they name themselves? I think she's... I think she missed me, she's not 'saying' anything, I'm just getting feelings and... there's a little... it feels like there's a little breeze around her."

Elly makes a thoughtful hmmm and rises to get a better look, herself. "If you want, I could try to ask her a question. I don't know what having a familiar will mean, nor if it will even work. Perhaps in time you will know each other at different levels. Generally animals have identities, but the don't use names quite like we would. Familiars are something different, I bet. I just wish I was more experienced, it would be fascinating to understand how it took place."

Auranar pulls back a little bit and shrugs. "I know some familiars can talk for themselves, so they might be able to name themselves?" She doesn't seem certain. "But not all familiars talk." She moves back a little bit more to give the pair space and settles down once again, with a low chuckle. "Guys, give them some room."

"Zephyr?" Cryo asks, peering closer, "you could call her Monsoon, that works with Torrent. Or maybe Chinook, Sirocco or Bise."

Of course she would know cold or snow related names for wind. "I can suggest some others if you like. Maybe Coco? Oh right! I wonder what she would say."

Cryosanthia backs away, as instructed.

Faranmidahn smiles at the suggestions and looks down to the spider for a moment, "I like Zephyr. Do you like Zephyr, litle lady?" she asks, still stroking the little arachnid, then looks to Elly, "I'd like very much to know what she thinks, thank you." She considers some things that have been bothering her and, while they are conceptually unchanged, she is not going to hold them over someone's head. She looks between the two elves, "Please, call me Faran. Cryo, could you pour us drinks, though we might have to share cups, I didn't expect quite everyone. But... a beautiful, peaceful picnic in the words with good friends... and a new one."

The Lucht moves to settle in near Cryosanthia and brings her hands to her face to gently kiss the little spider, "Let's celebrate a good day...!"
