Guild Meet

-=--=--=--=--=--=-<* A05: Adventurer's Guild, Guild Hall *>--=--=--=--=--=--=-
Given the amount of business the Adventurer's Guild has, this giant warehouse should be filled with precious gems and gold. The long halls should be more than their metal construction, the carpets should be lush instead of last week's midnight special. ...except these are adventurers, and adventurers have a reputation for blowing things up.
Guards and mercenaries fill the interior of the huge warehouse, one of the largest in the area. Metal walls divide its interior, crafting halls, rooms, and offices. A large space near the front has been set aside for mingling and then stocked with comfortable chairs. This area is catered by one of the Society of Arcanists' more famous chefs, a small lucht with a predilection for otherworldly cuisine and tentacle soup. Security here is as tight as it is anywhere in Alexandria, though burn marks still grace some walls and there's always the occasional dent or two where someone's head has been shoved.
No matter how many times the Guild has been rebuilt, the statue in the front remains the same: a lone warrior facing off against the tarresque, with the Guild's motto, below: Anything for the right price.
Autumn nods and listens, pondering the comments "I guess it could be dangerous but I've heard that it can be very good money."
Cressida smiles at that, nodding. "Just like that. Thank you." She gives a little grin. "And don't worry. When I do it reflexively, I usually don't claw." She looks to Autumn. "You mean, adventuring? It is both, yes. But, it's exciting. I imagine you could make some sort of explosives thr through. Or, that alchemical fire. That stuff is pretty nasty. I had my first adventuring outfit ruined by that stuff."
Munch makes his way into the Guild, an atypical figure most places, but sorta blending in the mass of chaos that is the regular Guild. Waveing in a friendly sort of way to a few familiar faces, the golem heads for the notice board, to look over the recent postings.
Autumn is sitting with Cressida, Boshter and Lorien at a table as they talk and occasionally Lorien pouring another round of drinks.
Lorien givs people another round of drinks, as he grins at Cressida, and then heaves a sigh, "Welcome, and I wouldn't mind the claws!" he teases, as he smiles, and then looks at Autumn, "So, where is it you are from?" He givs Munch a wave.
Autumn shrugs "Just a small village many days journey from here. It's not on any of the main trade routes, so I'd be surprised if you heard of it. I'm from there, and I'm surprised I heard of it!"
Cressida grins at that, adding a bit more cherry to her drink and downing it quickly. "I like that." She gives Lorien a slight grin. "And we can see about that later. But, I've got to catch up with Orion. We need to check our supplies for later today. City thing." She stands up, patting Lorien's shoulder. "I'm sure I'll see you all later, though." She gives Autumn a smile. "And, again, welcome to the city. It'll be an adventure. Later."
Munch waves back to Lorien, and gives Boshter a nod before grabbing a seat at the table, unclasping the large axe from his back as he does so. "Claws are fun, espically when there's a lot of little things. But most of the time want a bigger weapon." He waves fare well to Cressida, before turning to peer at Autumn. "...why don't you have hair?" Subtlety, golems are masters of it.
Cressida has left.
Lorien chuckles at Munch, as he waves towards Cressida, and then turns his attention towards Autumn, "The City that even you are surprised you don't know of? Ha!" he exclaims, and grins, a bit flushed from the drink. Or conversation. Hard to tell.
Autumn blinks at the golem walks over, sits down and pulls an axe! She falls back in her chair and scrambles away "What in the world? Is it safe??"
Munch blinks innocently. "That's what I'm asking. Most huamsn have hair. The ones that don't are either old or burned. You don't look burned."
Lorien looks at Autumn, "It's safe, he will not hurt you," he says, and then nods at Munch.
Autumn looks a bit freaked out looking at the golem. She stammers "It's... a long and private story."
Munch blinks at Lorien. "You shouldn't make promises like that. I hurt a lot of people." He turns back to Autumn. "But most of them really deserve it. Anyway, if you tell it, it's not private nay more, and I'm sure we can summerize. It's a short, well known story, waiting to happen."
Autumn picks up her chair and carefully sits down, taking her glass and draining it in one gulp. She shakes her head "No thank you, I'll keep it to myself for now,"
Lorien smiles gently, as he stands a little, "Well, I should be on my way, Eluna guide your paths," he says, and waves a bit.
Munch ehs, and shrugs, waving fare well to Lorien now, before turning to Autumn again. "But seriously, they don't let the really homicidal people in here. I havn't killed anyone for over a week, and he was a serious bad guy."
Autumn says carefully and nervously "It, it's still a bit of a shock. I'm still trying to get used to this place."
Lorien has left.
Munch nods, and shrugs, the butt of his axe upon the floor, one hand keeping it stable. "Everyplace is different, takes some getting used to. Won't be too long before your old place seems weird to you. What brought you to the city, anyway?"
Autumn says "It was time to move on, to learn what else I could. My Mentor told me to head out to see and experience."
Munch nods. "Is a good place for that. Lot of stuff you won't find anywhere else, and most things could find elsewhere, can also find here." Eyeing the table a moment, Munch takes up a glass left behind by one of the others, and uncoils a long black tongue from his metal jaws, soaking up the alcohol a little like a straw.
Autumn asks "How long have you been... active?" Apparently her curiousity is stronger than her fear.
Munch buzzes quietly a moment. "About 6 years now. Not certainly exactly, keeping track wasn't important to me early on." The golem speaks with his tongue still sticking out and his jaws still. Obviously, he doesn't actually use his mouth for talking.
Autumn nods and asks "So what do you do around here? You're a warrior for hire?"
Munch nods. "So far as the Guild cares, I break things and hurt people. Between jobs, I practice in the Arena, and deal in waste disposal management."
Autumn asks "What is the Arena?" She leans forward in her chair, her curiousity obvious.
Munch blinks and ponders a moment. "Big sorta dirt field. Buncha seats around it for when they've got a show going on. Under the seats are rooms for storage and healers and stuff. Most of the time field is broken up into training lanes, and sparing circles, and stuff like that. Lotta practice weapons around. Lotta those got good quality magic on them, from back with the Azure Queen."
Autumn's eyebrows rise when she hears that last bit "They use magical weapons as part of training? Isn't that dangerous?"
Munch shakes his head. "Just the opposite. Part of the magic makes it almost impossible to really hurt somebody. Even the blades don't really cut, they just sting and hurt a lot. Back at the time, Blue Bitch was driving people crazy. Couple guys beat each other to death with the old padded swords. The new magic ones, can't hurt someone even if you try. Expensive as all get out, but the local wizards chipped in for the good of the cause."
Autumn blinks "That's really amazing. I would love to see one of those blades."
Munch nods. "They're pretty standard in the Arena. I mean there's still only a few of them, but they belong to the Arena, and not so many people need to use one at any given time."
