April 30, 2015 Broken Blade: Scrying for the Blade Kyson and Cesran Fernwood Pub

Kyson is seated at one of the tables, a few books opened around him as he seems to be writing in a journal or log. Deep in research, he only occasionally glances up or over to a small plate of sliced bread and cheese. The books, for those close enough to see, all have one thing in common; the kingdom of Rune. Histories of the Noble Families, records of battles and a roster of knights.

Korra enters from the quiet of the outside, the creak of practice leather armor stained with heavy work and the day's effort. Coated in a fine layer of dust, she brushes herself off (haphazardly) before making her way to the tender. "Ale," she orders with a croak. "Watered."

Cesran comes in staff in hand and he smiles as he moves over to the bar, "Green hornet, a bowl of stew and some biscuits please." He asks as he digs out the proper coinage and he nods politely to Korra and then to Kyson as he spots his apprentice, "Still working on that broken sword of your's?"

Kyson doesn't immediately catch the fact that he was being spoken to but it eventually seeps in and he glances up with a sort of glazed expression. "Huh?" he asks and then sets eyes on Cesran and pushes himself up from the table. "Yes sir..." he answers sharply; his tone somewhat fatigued by long hours of study. "I've made some...interesting observations, sir..."

Korra does not intrude on the conversations around her. She waits patiently (tiredly) for her mug, draining its contents before ordering another-- and the stew to go with it. Collecting her refilled drink, she moves to a quiet corner, subdued as only one exhausted from long day's work can be.

Cesran gets his food and drink and he moves over, "Oh what sort of observations have you found?" He asks as he sets his staff up and the staff cranes it's head to see what Kyson is working on. "Is it another intelligent weapon? They seem to be popping up all over the place." The staff speaks as Cesran is busy eating.

Kyson pats the pumpkin-sized leather back next to him on the bench and explains, "I've been able to find out that the design of the blade -is- from Rune and that it was made for the Order of the Griffon, a military order of scouts and Eldritch knights of the kingdom." He takes a deep breath before continuing as there's a lot of information to pour through and he's been thinking entirely too much about it of late. Flipping his journal around so that the older wizard can see the hand-drawn crest of the Order upon the page he continues. "Then, I found out that there's a crest of the person who wielded the blade set between the wings - oh...and since the wings are made to look gold - he was an officer. Yeah, forgot to mention that." The young mage's excitement is difficult to miss as he starts to get his energy back. "... The Crest that I found, according to the Lady Godwyn, is of the House of Merendil - a strong supporter of the Order."

Korra doesn't quite tilt her head in curiosity. Eavesdropping-- pay no mind!

Cesran listens as he eats and he pauses, "That's interesting, so you think that you might have an ancestor that had wielded the blade. Any word from your mother if this blade is a good or bad intentions. From the sound of it sounds that repairing the blade would be worth the effort."

The apprentice shakes his head and offers what information he has, "My mother has only vaguely responded to my letter. She said that she was given the blade as a memento of her father before she left Rune. She won't tell me -why- she left," he emphasizes that point strenuously and takes a moment to let that sink in before continuing. "...but I suspect that she was a member of the House of Merendil and came to Alexandros to escape... something." He pauses again and then flips to a page in the journal filled with questions, "I've been speaking with the Lady Godwyn, a Paladin of Althea. She feels that there may have been some residual magic passed to this blade from the one my...um... 'grandfather' may have been fighting. When this blade and presumably the other sword finally snapped, their magics intermingled slightly."

Cesran ahs a little bit, "Well if you like I can begin the preparations for a scrying spell to find the other parts of the blade." He nods, "Yes as I thought that is what might of happened. Have you considered how you will reforge the blade?"

Kyson shakes his head, "I figure that I'll have to find the pieces first - uh, with your help sir."

Cesran nods, "Do you think that it's just one other piece or multiple pieces? Have you found anything about the other pieces?" He asks curiously as he dips some of the biscuit into the rich stew.

“There’s no way to know sir,” Kyson explains, “...I’m sorry to be so little help with this. One of the blacksmiths that I spoke to said that if the blade is truly ‘white adamantine’ then it’s possible it only broke once or maybe twice depending on what it hit.”
