- Summary: Merek calls Cryosanthia and Ezil to his fishing spot on Redridge to share some important and delicate information from them. Silvermoon summoned Lord Eclavdran. The remote and hidden location turns out to less private than hoped, as Caim, then Durrankar arrive. Caim makes some boots for Cryosanthia, and Durrankarr explains his role as Steward for Mictlan, and the sanctity of the site. It must be more secure than Am'shere.

The Redridge arcs high above the landscape. Towards the south, the Shining City itself is built into them. This far north, the co-forces of the Hunter and Earth Mother hold firmer sway. Along this mountainous wilderness are tucked small communities--areas the khazad had settled long ago and simply "dug in." Of late, the egalrin have also made themselves known, and their woven nests can be seen here and there.
A number of goat-paths crisscross this section of the Redridge, and though steep, the area is explorable given a little determination. Below and towards the west, the great Tornmawr glitters, its well-known ferry ready to assist travelers in their crossing. Beyond its shores, the landscape turns greener, and trees fill the spaces the mountains leave behind.

Merek had sent a message to Cryo and Ezil, while he takes a place to settle in, fishing upon the Tornmawr river along the ice. He seems to have on his white-black attire, with the longcoat which he wears shifted upon the hip while he takes a look into a book he keeps with him, making notes.
The message found Cryosanthia in Mictlan, and after a time the white sith-makar appears on one of the goat paths. She is walking in a somewhat low and ready stance largely because of the slipperiness of the ground. She finds Merek at his fishing spot. "Hello... You sent for me?"
Ezil was found within Alexandria, arriving shortly after Cryosanthia. He raises a hand to the two, looking around at this spot with a quick. "Hello." It seems he is as lax as usual with his greetings, but he does seem intent on making this meeting. "The White-One asked my question." he muses, having heard her on his approach.
Merek looks to the fish, while he begins to stand up, looking to both of the friends of his. Then he makes a motion, with a nod, "Yes... I've learned information. Important information, I know about the man that came for the kids, why he's about, his relation to the illness that Kol and his Mistress is bringing."
"For Zak?" Cryosanthia asks, gazing around for a spot to sit. Finding one on a snow-covered rock. She sweeps it clear with her tail and settles, leaning back on her hands and stretching out her feet. She flexes her toes, straight and closed, "This I want to know, yes. How did you come by it and what are the details? You are hale?" Ezil raises a brow, crossing his arms before his chest. "Well you have my attention." those matters seeming to weigh on his mind as he looks to Cryosanthia, and then back to Merek with a nod, seeming to be paying full attention.
"It is private, I would prefer it kept between us, until more folk know, I don't want the way we discovered it to become the issue for a few people, I do know it's fairly trustworthy," Merek says, while he nods a bit to the two, "Eclavdran, they are a full Duke of the... Well, you know. That place," which can only mean he means the place of the Planes Lower. He does look about, then he nods, "He was summoned... By Silvermoon, trying to use his power to cure the illness. Though, he is collecting favors, which might be why he wants the kids. As payment, it makes sense. The Fae Queen that controls Kol, her name is powerful, they thought he would fight for all of them against that Fae."
"You know, I thought his name might be an Anagram. The letters do re-arrange into other odd things, like 'Calendar' and 'Advancer'. There's a couple other words that can be spelt. I was talking about it with my trainer." The white sith-makar says while she digests the new information. A brief nod is giving to Ezil when he arrives, and again after Merek speaks. "Silvermoon is... the elven lands, yes? They do not know the danger in dealing with demons? They agreed Alexandrian children were part of his payment? It is true this is sensitive, this deal is the sort that starts wars."
The sound of metal moving is heard and Caim is seen, helmet down obscurring his face. When he sees Cryo and Merek, his helmet opens to reveal his face, and he looks to Cryosanthia. "Silvermoon is the elvish capital. My mother learned from elven and dwarven smiths to become a master blacksmith." He says as he looks about. "I trust all is well?" He asks curiously as he waits for a response.
Ezil nods his head. "I knew he was a Duke of.... well. Jerboba told me as much, but I didn't know the rest." sighing and looking to Cryosanthia after. "I had guessed he was opposing those in the Shard Tower, but I did not know about the collecting what he was." pausing as he notices Caim after he speaks, shrugging. "It is a bit of an odd evening it seems." sparing a look back to Merek, nodding. "Lots to think over, and a lot to decide on it seems."
"We don't know which people are involved in it all, I wouldn't imagine they knew what they would owe him before it," Merek says, then it looks like a person he doesn't know well comes about, likely after a bit of the important piece of conversation, and as such he does not keep talking about it. "In any case. We're looking into a better cure with the illness. It looks like there are different kinds of the same one."
"All is cold and slippery." Cryosanthia answers Caim, holding up one of her feet and showing off the sandal pad on the ball of her feet. She wiggles her toes. "The cold does not concern me but these sandals aren't cutting it for walking. I have no idea how you manage in that armour. So you are Silvermoon native, or it was your mother only that trained in smithing there?"
"Me no. Before my parents died, we traveled betweeen nations, supplyinng arms and armor to the armies of said nation. Father was a wizard and enchanted mom's wares. Dad was cold and calculating and spoke of preparing for the future. He probably would be disappointed because I didnt become a wizard like him." Caim says as looks to the woman's sandals. He looks to the woman's feet and he pulls shoe making materials. "So whats going on? We going to the demon realm and bust some heads?"
Ezil laughs at Caims words, and then to Merek with a shrug. "If I am called to do so, but it more seems we need to find some more information first." looking the to Cryosanthia. "Did you tell Merek about the cup?" he asks, looking about at the small group, and then letting out a sigh. "It's all troubling, but demons have been everywhere Caim. Just be wary and keep an eye out." seeming to let the conversation die. "I don't know what to think of it all."
"Cup?" Merek then asks, while he looks between the three, with a nod. "It looks like there is always something about to fight," he says, with his arms also thoughtfully crossing with a look to the place. "I can make boots of the winterland if folk need!"
"I have had the Death's Dreaming Tea and been beyond the Veil and back, but the door to the Demon Realm is beyond me and I don't think I'm ready to step through." Cryosanthia says, tucking her feet back against her rock. Watching Caim. "I do not have much coin. Those sound expensive Merek, though I worry about how the cold cuts through my human friends. You should consider them Ezil."
"As for the cup." The white sith sits up, "It is not with me now. I stole it from a demon who was in communication with Lord Eclavdran. I've had it examined and there is no magic in it, it was merely serving to hold the blood for the spell. Demon blood. It has been cleaned. Still... arguments happen when I have it out."
"Pay me back in trade." Caim says as he looks to her feet. He begins to start stitching the leather and he listens. He shrugs as he finishes one boot, adding fur lining from his pack. "There is a blueprint which when it is developed can make any being comfortable, no matter the temperatures...I was looking on developingb it for my armor.
Ezil looks to Cryosanthia with a raised brow. "The cold does bite a little, but I will endure. I spent a few gold to commission a new weapon, but..." looking then to Merek. "I do not think what I have left would cover the boots, Friend. I will keep it in mind though." he muses, looking back to Cryo with a shrug. "I thought it might be worth mentioning. I didn't realize it was just a part of a spell. I had hoped it was more... wondrous than that." he admits, furrowing his brow. "So then, we must find the summoner, eh?"
"Ah, did we need to have the blood? I have a collection of that from the Duke's servants," Merek says, while he lifts a brow at Caim, then he looks to Cryo and Ezil, "Well, if you need it just ask. Besides all that, what have you all been up to?" he asks.
"I'll... arrange some free meals at Fernwood Pub then." Cryo says, scouring her brain for something she has to trade. She watches the boot form from the leather. "Interesting."
She gives Ezil a somewhat worried look, nose dipped, eye-ridges raised, "You have lost track of your guest? He would know... This one has been advised to have no part in an attempt to contact Eclavdran, that I am too vulnerable."
Her smile for Merek is warmer, at least as warm as a smile on a lizard in winter can be. "After the skeletons, walking mostly, betwixt Alexandria and Mictlan. Some Speaker training, the Elder has told me I am deficient and must practice. Oh! I met an Egalrin at the Wayfarer Inn. He hunts men."
Ezil shakes his head. "Oh I know where my guest is, but he's been keen not to offer much more. Mikilos should be able to do something about the situation soon hopefully, but until then I have to deal with his incessant gibbering and desires to see the city." he says with a sigh. "I might be to vulnerable myself, but at this point, I will offer help any way I can."
Then switching topics as he hears Cryosanthia speak of an Egalrin. "I haven't met many of the Egalrin, but I have heard many tales, both good and bad." he notes, smirking. "Though that can be said about any of the races."
Standing 7 feet tall, this sith-makar has dull silver scales running all over his body. He has horns arcing over the back of his head, and tendrils underneath of the horns, earfins framing the tendrils. He has light blue eyes, and is almost constantly breathign out mist from his nostrils...except in cold weather.
He wears numerous tiger skins upon his form and typically carries a walking stick, with his tail sometimes dragging along the ground when he stands fully upright, or just off the ground when hunched over.
Caim just continues working on the boot and soon the second boot is developed and has fur lining in it as well. He then puts away his materials and offers the boots to Cryosanthia. "Not used to leathermaking. More used to metal." He says as he watches the woman.
Merek nods a bit between the folk, a smile back to Cryo, while he looks to Ezil, and also Caim, "I am Merek," he says to the man he doesn't know well, while he nods to the sith-makar, "Well, I think you are doing well with your story telling!"
The thumping of a staff and the scrape of claws can be heard as a Sith-makar with a cloak, and a staff, can be seen walking up the path of the mountains. this silver-scaled Sith-makar seems to be just looking about for a bit....at least until he reaches the group. He thumps his tail to them, and slowly bows. "Peace on your nests." He then looks to Cryosanthia. "Peace...kin."
Ezil sighs. "Speaking of my guest, I need to go tend to him before he makes trouble." his hand raising as he bids those here farewell, nodding to Cryosanthia and Merek. As he's passing the silver Sith-Makar, he pauses to give a. "Peace on your nests." and continuing on his way. "You know where to find me!" he calls over his shoulder to those he was talking too. "Babysitting... apparently."
"This one was unusual." Cryosanthia replies, then stops, laughing suddenly. "Ha, my languages clash! I do need more practice. I did not expect two voices. The Egalrin was brightly coloured and terse of words, of Redridge. Takes bounties. He is the first Egalrin I have spoken to at any length, it was intriguing. It's good your guest is... contained."
The white sith-makar takes the boots, dipping her head. "Thanks, very much. These will be repaid." She removes her sandals and pulls them on, massaging and pushing her on her calves as she does. Once on, she wiggles her toes then pushes them on the ground, testing the grip, seemingly satisfied.
"Thanks Merek, it's my singing. I've been given some throat and vocal exercises to do." Cryosanthia explains. As Ezil departs she gets in a last thought loud enough for him to hear, although it's mostly meant for Merek. "The cup is ornate, a Chalice, clearly worth something and likely stolen from a shrine. The village's priest didn't recognize it, so it must be from somewhere else. I was going to look around for someone to return it to."
The white sith stands and bows slightly to the silver one, thumping her tail. "Peace on your nest. This one is Cryosanthia, Speaker."
Merek offers a light wave to Ezil, while he looks to Cryosanthia and to Caim with the new sith-makar, "I haven't met a lot of the Egalrin people, and... Also I can probably use a bit of my power to learn where it was from, maybe." A chuckle while he takes a drink from a canteen with him while he looks thoughtful.
Caim smiles at the woman. "They wont do as armor, but should keep your toes from freezing." He says as he looks to the silver sith. Caim himself was wearing what appeared to be full plate, but it didnt look like any armor, known anyway. Not to mention it was bright red with gold sides.
The one that passes him gets a nods. "Go in peaccccee" The silver utters before looking to Cryosanthia and tilting his head. "Cryosanthia. I do not recognize you, as of yet, but a little bit of time, I shall. I am Durrankar, Shaman. Steward of Mictlan. I have not been there as of late though."
"I'll bring it by the Temple of Elune, Merek." Cryosanthia says.
"They are comfortable. Sandals aren't much armour either. I wear them for the cobbles. My hide is thick but all my weight on a nail and a stone and I'll feel it." She explains to Cain.
"Durrankar! This one has heard your name. You are much renown in Mictlan. I am very glad it is there. So much like home."
Merek looks thoughtfully to Cryo, while he nods a bit, "Alright," he says to the point about the chalice. Then he looks to Durrankar, "I am Merek," he adds simply, "Theurge and Scribe." He then looks to Caim, "You are Artificer?"
"The armor wasnt a dead giveaway?" Caim says as he looks to Merek. He then looks to Cryosanthia. "I understand." He says as he looks to Durrankar. "What is the mictlan?" He asks curiously as he smiles at the silver sith.
"Peace on your nest, Merek." Durrankar says before looking to Cryo. "It is home. It issss hallowed ground as well. No one may enter without an invitation. So our young may be protected....even more than in Am'shere." then Caim speaks and he tilts his head. "Might I ask your name, first?"
Cryosanthia listens carefully to Durrankar, her tail slowly coiling from behind her to the side of her leg, noting the things she should remember. "This one shall be careful who she brings. The solace of the ground is felt. You steward well."
Merek nods a bit between the three while he listens to Cryosanthia, "I've only been there a few times, always mindful of the sanctity of the place." He then looks to Caim, "Yes, what's your name?" he asks, "Also, I mean it was a giveaway, it's polite to ask as well."
"Caim." Caim says as the armor literally opens, revealing the human in the metal shell. He then begins the process of folding the armor into a box about the size of a large backpack. HE then looks to Durrankar. "I avoid places with people generally. People view artificers with dread. Infact I been camping out in the woods working on my own devices."
"if I recall correctly, there's an Enclave inside of the city....for engineers, such as yourself. Not all artificers are bad....but you do need to be careful with your devices. As with magic." Durrankar nods his head. "It is good to meet you Caim. I have worked with an Artificer quite frequently. He's....much like a knight of artifice, as I've seen." he then thumps his tail. "I shall see you all later, as I must rest."
"Yes. Alexandria is extremely tolerant. They have a goblin enclave and that appears to be their thing, and there are several non-goblin articiers about. One of them gave me this." Cryosanthia pulls a small hexagonal box from around her neck, and pushes the single button on it. Red numerals float in the air in front of her face. "This one tells time."
She retrieves a second one from her belt, similar in shape, again with a single button, which is pushed. Wavy lines floating in the air appear, "I'm not sure what this one is, I think it's a topographical map."
Putting both away, she continues, "And there's an... Artificer's Society? Trying to improve the public opinion of them? I would have told you had I know you were sleeping out in the snow. There was no need!"
"Peace be on your next, Durrankar." Cryo thumps her tail in farewell.
"The Engineer's Enclave keeps a lot of the people," Merek mentions, while he nods to a clockwork watch which he keeps, "I made it," he says, then a look to Durrankar, "You be well," he says. Then it's back to Cryo along with Caim, "Well anyway, about 'that' information, I will look to find anything new that might be useful."
"I been working with the engineers enclave but havent found a place yet. Anyway I should probably go to the enclave." He says as he puts the box on his back and he looks to the others. He smiles and begins to head out.
"His armour is most strange." Cryosanthia comments, leaning back and then wriggling her feet around in her new boots. "He does work fast. These seem well made. I wear sandals usually because trapping moisture against my scales is bad for them, so I will see how these work out. I am planning to have some gloves made. Then get better armour."
Merek waves to the two, then it's back to Cryo while he nods to the woman, "What kind? I have engineer's gloves, as well as my boots of the winterland. Pretty useful for my work," he admits.
"Apprentice Cheating gloves, if they can be made in leather." Cryosanthia says, "and for the armour, it would still be kilted leather, but fitted to me and with my symbols, and then hopefully sometime when I'm RICH! Ha ha, the Voidfrost enchantment."
"Ah, voidfrost robes are amazing. I think you can have a lot of things made pretty nice with any material. I make wondrous things, I also use the material people want, tailoring with that," Merek says, with a nod while he thinks about that, "I am making a cassock into a longcoat."
"The gloves would be very useful, washing dishes at Fernwood." Cryo explains, making circular motions in the air. She follows by pointing and pushing her hand forward, "Or nudging drinks of the rubes who step on my tail off the table."
"You are re-working a magic item? I did not think that possible, that one always must start anew."
Merek nods a bit, "I am making a new item, just in a form which I actually like. That said, you can weave a few enchantments up into one thing, you just need to pay extra also as well," Merek says, with a nod. "I am up to make you anything if you ever have the coin! Work going alright?"
The white sith rolls her shoulders, rocks her head from side to side, "There is not much to serving at the Pub, remembering orders, finding coins slipped into strange places on my armour. It goes when I am in Alexandria and not when not. In Mictlan, I listen and study. I see what the Adventurer's Guild lists that I might attempt, so far only the one assignment."
Merek looks then to Cryo in thought, while he nods a bit to the woman. "Well, pub work will always be... A bit interesting," he says, then he looks to the skies, "My own Elunite people, least the ones at Silvermoon, were involved in the... Thing. I'm not sure what to think about that."
Cryosanthia holds her gaze on Merek for a long while, her expression neutral and cryptic. "I know little of Silvermoon. Alexandria too, before I came. There are three types of elves, all there, and humans too? This one would be concerned on their involvement. I've been warned, lots. Demons are not to be trusted. They are not a weapon that can be controlled. This desperate recklessness will invite more problems. Do they fear being drawn under the Fae Queen? Aren't elves once of her subjects?"
"I don't think a lot of humans call Silvermoon their home, and at least one elf race is more commonly from Charn," Merek mentions, with a nod to Cryosanthia, while he takes a moment to consider it. "The illness was even worse in their lands than Alexandria. The Fae created it, or wanted it to be given to people. I share their need to take Her on, but you're right. The Iron Book keeps the same view... The thing is, they perfect manipulation, and he probably can do what they want, possibly. It still wouldn't be worth what he would ask of from them, they probably gave an even crazier foe to Ea," he adds.
"I'm aware." The white sith-makar woman says, as cold as the day. She draws her Arcane Mark on the rock she's sitting on, then shoots another one with a Ray of Frost. She stands, "Hey, see if you can see a fish near the surface, I want to try something."
Walking, swishing, stomping both to test the boots and just because, "It would be nice to have one day without distress. Well, tell a joke, laugh and carry on. She seems to have perfected manipulation. You know how to kill her right? A Claw of the Death Singing Dragon told me, his scythe reaps all. How to borrow one, now that's the trick."
Merek makes a way to the ice covered Tornmawr, while he finds a place, then he begins to point to the fish, with a nod for Cryosanthia while he seems to think about it. "That, isn't a weapon I would like the people of this world to wield. Also, there's little promise that killing the Fae will cure the illness. There's a balance, we need to keep. Even though that might mean keeping beings like that about to keep balance as well."
Cryo follows Merek, her tail swaying slowly. She gazes into the water. A gesture, a pale ray hits the water and penetrates into it, freezing a spike that pierces the fish. Instantly it floats to the surface, the life fading from it. "A deal with a Celestial perhaps then, and you're right. Mikilos wanted to know, so I need to tell him at some point."
"I have celestial family, though not expressed like my dragon ancestry," Merek admits, while he looks to the fish, back to Cryosanthia in thought while he takes a moment to check his mechanical fishing pole, "They might be willing to assist. They will still likely want a deal, offering, promise. We might look for sealing magic to place upon the Duke and Fae. I'm not an expert in magic like that though!"
Cryosanthia holds her hand in the air and makes a grasping motion while the fish-berg starts to drift away, "Right now this would be a great time for mage hand."
So she takes off her boots and splashes into the water instead, picking it up and coming back ashore. "Well, wouldn't hurt to ask. Although, I don't want to be around for that asking either."
Merek looks curiously to Santhia while she maneuvers to the water like that. He chuckles a bit, while he scratches at the thick stubble of his face, "Well, I have a few ways to get it for you, looks like you already have. Learning to fish with magic?" he asks. Then a nod, "Well, I wouldn't mind it, I've already fought Kol and Yukia one-on-one anyway. I think meeting an Outsider would be pretty interesting."
"It's fine." She says, beating the fish on the ground to break the spike off. Water streams off her, pooling, "It will freeze soon enough, then I'll be dry again. Hopefully it will not come down to one on one. There is a city full, one would think enough Adventurers could be recruited."
"Well, I need to be back to a bit of research, you be well. You need anything, you just ask, I will look what I can find about more information on what we're dealing with," Merek says, with a smile.
The white sith-makar nods, smiling a little. "I may have some bloodline questions. I have to think about things a little more. I'll let you know. Peace be upon your nest, Merek. I'm going to do a little more fishing before I head back to Mictlan."
Merek nods a bit, "Peace on your nest as well," he says, with a smile and a wave.
