SUDDEN BADNESS
OH NO, THERE'S BADNESS AFOOT.
Really, that's what the twelve year old kids who ran up to the Guild said, and that's why you're now standing outside a rather dilaapidated three story home that looks /every/ bit the 'haunted house' from everyone's nightmares. Apparently, they were playing some sort of game about staying here and fled when one of their friends was, "And then the wall opened up and TOTALLY GRABBED HIM. WE GOT OUT OF THERE AS FAST AS WE COULD."
In other words, they found a secret passage of some kind, he fell in, and the kids paniced and fled because of his screams.
... right? That's rpobably it.
Of course, this IS ALexandria and the house is REPUTEDLY haunted by the Ghost of Old Man Frilmore.
(City records indicate that it was actually owned by Lady Evalant-Tillphro of Myrrdion, but when has that ever gotten in the way of a good urban legend?)
Hun'rar is ready to help whenever he is called upon and who better than a fearless paladin to investigate ghosts? His shield is strapped to his back and sword is in its sheath at his waist. "Well, nothing for it but go bug anything, if there is anything inside. Possibly bugs." he says from behind his visor helmet as he looks up at the building.
Belladona has received word from the guild that her service might be needed. She and Samafa, here lioness companion come up to the house and the half-orc nods politely to those who have also gathered. "Greetings. There is a child missing correct?"
A piercing moan comes from insdie the house!
...wait, no. That's just a child crying.
Arisha tilts her head a bit. "Haunted house huh?" she then smirks. "This should be interesting." She then snickers a bit. "A bit more than inteesting."
Bors is here because he was at the guild, and followed along when people came to help. No one knows why. Few even know who he is. He just turns up sometimes, smelling faintly, or not so faintly, of fish.
Garak trots up on his trusty warhorse. And then immediately dismounts, expression unreadable. Indoor work again. He immediately chastises himself for the thought. Serriel's work must be done regardless of the terrain or what advantages can be brought to bear. But what work needs to be done here? "Old Man Frilmore...does anyone here recognize the name?"
Arisha says, "Sorry Vanguard, but I don't." She tugs a bit on her half-cloak over her left shoulder. "Should we have?""
Hun'rar shrugs "Well we can go see if it matters, need to find this kid as soon as possible. Its probably a dark prank." he says starting towards the building entrance.
Belladona hears the crying child and she hefts up her large wooden shield, "Samafa with me." She says as she starts to head towards the building entrance.
Arisha says, "Good idea....lets go find out."
Garak shakes his head, something about his manner almost apologetic. "I don't know much either, beyond the name," he admits. Or the actual owner of this house. The city records did not explain." Failed by beauracracy. A dark day for all civilized peoples. But he shakes off the mood and nods agreement. "Well spoken. I'm with you." He edges for the front door, apparently willing to with them in the front.

Bors heads into the house with the others, his kukri knives finding their way into his hands like old friends coming home. He looks left, looks right, looks up. He doesn't say anything, just follows along, waiting for ... something.
Into the house you go.
You know, it smells musty here. That's the first thing. It's also fairly dark, given the hour. The sounds of crying are apparently coming from the second floor and the stairs are readily apparent from the doorway, so up you go. FLoorboards creak loudly and threaten to give way. Frankly, this place is old enough that it needs some serious work and replacement boards for things like the stairs. r
Following the sound upstairs, you're lead to a rather large room in the center of the house.
It is quite empty at the moment except for the remnants of the children's impromptu house party.
Being young teenagers, there are of course signs of beer drinking.
Belladona looks down at her lioness, "Samafa can you please seek out the child." She asks of her companion and she looks around as well as the lioness begins to try to sniff out the child.
Arisha looks...behind her and chuckles. "let me go first. I'm likely the lightest of us." She says tring to find some sort of trail....which'll be less likely than the lioness.
AS soon as Belladona says that, from the other side of the wall: "AHHH HELLLLLP"
Bors activates his ... it looks like a skullcap, sort of, but it gives off light. Like a Cap of Light, though not quite so dorky looking. Because Glamered.
Arisha says, "Hun'rar? can you msash through the wall?"
Garak rushes straight for the wall, then raises a hand as if he's going to place his palm on it...but stops with his fingers a few inches from the wall. "See if you can get to the child!" he urges the others. "I'll do what I can from this side!" Then he raises his voice to a military volume. "Help is here! Come closer to my voice! Are you injured?!"
Hun'rar shrugs "Could try sure." he says following Garak to help take down the wall, claws growing from the ends of his fingers to help tear at the wood.

...with all the creaming, it isn't hard to figure out just /where/ the kid is screaming from on the other side of the wall.
A further search reveals that there's a panel on the wall that looks depressable.
Kisaiya didn't really know what she was looking for, she apparently wasn't very good at even hearing the screaming. In fact, it's even a question of where she came from, but there she was. Standing there, looking at the wall with her arms raised up over her head with her hands hanging a bit limply at the wrist. It would almost look like she was giving up to someone, unless you know Kisa - then you probably would recognize this stance.
Kisa has spotted a spider!
Belladona hmms, "There looks to be a panel on the wall that you can press." She looks to the others and she goes to press it.
Hun'rar doesn't see anything, instead focuses on breaking through the wall to get to the screaming.
Arisha says, "Hang on, Hun'rar. May be an easier way." She says as she preses the panel. "oh, and get your shield up.""
Magnus is there, but not at the wall. He, instead, has his bow out and steps back when Arisha says 'get your shield up.'
Hun'rar looks up and nods to Arisha, strapping his shield onto his forearm. "What way? You have a crowbar?"
Kisaiya moves a bit to the side, then to the other and finally reaches out as she says softly, "Rar-rar-rar. So, so." A nod of her head and she tries to scoop up the little spider with a smile, "You are too small for my friend. But I still will tell her you said Hi. This is much too dangerous though, you should be elsewhere."
...as the wall cracks easily enough, the panel is depressed and it begins to swivel and HEY THERE.
There's a kid, covered in cobwebs. He can't be older than thirteen or fourteen, almost a man really, and he's sitting between two skeletons. Bleached with aged and wrapped in loosened canvas and linen, they seem to ahve grabbed hold of him. Or he fell into them and is flailing. Either way, he looks fairly banged up and hurt.
Also, DEAD PEOPLE.
Belladona reaches into pull out the boy, "Come on get out of there." She says as she tries to pull him away from the skeletons as Samafa stands guard near her.
Hun'rar raises his shield to cover the shild the best he can while he slashes out at the skeletons with his claw. "With me, Gilead has found you, stay with me." he says trying to be reasuring, hoping his aura of courage has some affect.
Kisaiya starts carrying the spider off toward another wall, her hands constantly moving to keep the spider walking in a never ending path until she finally gets some place safe(er). She reaches her hand out then, letting it climb off, "I'll write her a note and everything and tell her how cute you were. Ah gods don't bite me!" And it bites her. She stares at it, holding her hand still as her eyebrow twitches, "Just... Just go." She says, and coaxes it with the other hand.
The little spider skitters off and Kisa shakes her hand, "Little devil... better than a cat though." She sighs and looks back to see the boy and the skeletons and all that. A frown and a narrow of her eyes, Kisa senses tingling! Or maybe that's just here hand...
Arisha says, "Come on, come on." Sje says gesturing for the child to come to them. "I don't even think those skeletons are alive.....yet.""
Magnus raises his bow, looking down his arrow towards the DEAD PEOPLE. He circles to get a better angle, then lowers his bow. "There's always something, though."

Garak looks almost relieved when the youth and his plight are revealed. Satisfied. So much chaos and strangeness in Alexandria and beyond. For a priest of Serriel, coming across undead troubling an innocent like this is somehow familiar and reassuring. Not that such evil can be left unsmote of course, any more than the barbarian hordes, or demonic hordes, or even plant hordes could be. Reaching for his oddly colored holy symbol, he steps forward and places the other hand on Hun'rar's shoulder. Timestop by Whirlpool has left.
Bors has been performing in a somewhat lackluster manner today. His motivation wasn't in it, or so it might seem. But. He scowls as the thing is hurting his allies. And it's doing bad things. And why is he even here, if it's not to do bad things to bad people? It's his whole purpose in life anymore, is to make bad things pay dearly for being bad, and to cut them up for fishbait. This is accomplished by him getting his act together and perpetrating brutally aggressive attacks on the skeletons, his kukri knives flashing as he hacks limbs and bits into splinters left and right, powering through it like an unstoppable force of nature. If these were alive, it would have been a bloodbath.
Magnus lowers his bow, then closes his mouth. That. "That was impressive." He exhales, then looks for the kid. "You okay?"
Hun'rar looks down at the remains of the creatures, with a huff expelling a puff of smoke from his mouth. "Are you ok?" he says turning to the child, claws and fangs retracting and making him just a little less fearsome.
Arisha takes a deep breath as the skeleton goes down. "the kid ran off. and I mean sprinted out. We should look for him." She's still glowing blue as well. Seems the skeleton hit her harder than the others.
Magnus shakes his head. "I was distracted. And we should." He takes a moment to reorient himself.
Bors spins both blades, wipes the blades clean on his sleeves, and slips them back in their sheathes. The smile he gives Magnus is perhaps not reassuring. But. The child is out and the monsters are dead, so his work is done, yes? He nods and heads out of the building, the direction the child went.
Garak moves over to examine the bits and pieces of the defeated monsters. "I wonder how long they've been down here..."
...and now it's tim to go, right? Right?
Your levaing is interrupted by the fact that the stairs have collapsed and that /poor kid/ is down in another hidden basement.
Apparently, from what you c an see, it looks like a whole (and abandoned) necromancer's lab. Gotta be a necromancer, given the skeletal remains on a table. Where'd he go, though? That's the question. Who was he? Either way, you now have a kid with a broken ankle to carry out of here. Perhaps the guard can learn more in the meantime.
Arisha says, "let's get him out of here." She grumbles. She then looks around and sighs. "If someone can get to the vardaman temple and have the Mourners and Absolution come here that'd be great. Tell them there's a necromancer lab here.""
Bors hops down into the basement. He's surprisinly spry for his age, until you remember he's a sailor, and he easily clambers down like it was a ship's rigging, putting the kid over his shoulder before climbing up and back out. Problem solved.
